Remember when we wanted this guy?

What's so wrong with his attitude? Is it that he's always late, like Rich said happened at USC? Just a general nonchalance?

I'd never heard this before, but it's another reason you can't get too wrapped up in ESPN fluff pieces like the one before the draft trumpeting how Williams had toiled for months getting ready for his workouts.

And BTW, I still say... You never draft slow WRs high, no matter how big they are. :)

From the articles out today about Williams, it was Millen who sent him home after he was late for a meeting and didn't show for one of his treatments on his hamstring.

Irvin was big and slow also. I just think Williams was TOO big.

Beat me to it. I was going to say Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice.

What, A first round bust picked by Matt Millen? Say it ain't so.

Being sent home, being demoted. This stuff has happened before. But he must be a special breed of a-hole for the Lions to look into releasing a Top 10 pick after just 1 year. That's unheard of. It also tells me they are less than impressed with what they've seen of his talent level, and even if he matures they don't think he'll be anything special.

I'd trade Ellis for him right now and roll the dice he pulls his head out.

Well Bill does love TE's.:laugh1: I think that's where Big Mike ends up. He's too big and slow to play WR in this league. But he'd need to ramp up his work ethic to make the change so maybe not. When I saw the time he ran on a fast track at his Pro Day I prayed we wouldn't take him. And right now I'd be leery of acquiring him for anything. Is he better than Crayton as a 3rd down receiver? Probably not.

Well as someone above noted.

Rodgers injuries and problems.
Harrington Gone
M.Williams Problems.

Roy Williams at least his only problem seems to be injuries.

I don't think they are looking to release him. I haven't seen anything from the club themselves about that. It's mostly speculation from people who smell bust blood in the water.

If the Lions cut or traded him, they get nailed with a 12 million dollar cap hit from what Adam Schefter said last night. I am sure they aren't pleased, but I don't think they are looking seriously at cutting him, if for no other reason than the cap impact.

Not to comment from an "I told you so" position, but yeah, I thought Williams might not do as well as others thought and was happy with the decision to select Ware or even Merriman.

However, WR are the hardest position to aclimate to the NFL in the first couple years so maybe he might pan out, but for Dallas' needs of a player to perform now....Dallas did really well in selecting Ware!

Not this year. They'll probably release Rogers first. One bust at a time.

I liked him and still do as a talent, but I'd want his attitude changed.

B. Edwards > M. Williams :muttley:

This is one that I hope we can have fun with for years to come Hos.

Bingo, they've even kept the worthless Charles Rogers around for three years now.

And Alex, IR is only quoting the Shefter remark in the anchor post that the team looked into getting rid of Williams. If the only reason a player is kept is because the cap hit would be too big... That's pretty sad.

I probably deserve it, but...

You guys :shoot3:

"Don't mind if I shoot do you? It makes me feel better." (Name that movie, yeah it's a John Wayne western.)

Remember when some of us said Braylon Edwards was a better WR than Mike Williams, only to be shot down by the rest of the board? Yeah, that was pretty funny in hindsight

Remember when it was because he could run 30 yard slants?

You're right that was funny.

I missed the part where Edwards is setting the league on fire.

Braylon Edwards hasn't done much either, so it's not a huge thing to crow about yet.
