Report: Elliott reported to camp overweight

You don't judge a coach for a rookie coming in over his goal weight. You judge him by how he handles things when it happens, which it does with some regularity.

Yeah I'm as anti-JG/Parcellls homer as you will find around here, but it's not like Garrett can go live with the kid over the summer. If he comes in next year out of shape then there are issues.

Jason might want to talk with him about perusing pot stores however...

I judge on both accounts. Parcells would've mentioned the weight the first visit after the draft and challenged him to be at a certain weight by a certain date. Parcells tried to manage everything, Jason doesn't have that in him.You got me sounding like pebbles!

All coaches set weight goals. And all coaches have to deal with some rookies missing them. Parcells and Garrett are no different in that regard.

What matters is what you do once a guy comes into camp overweight.

By regular season he will be around his playing weight. If he puts on a pound or 2 of muscle then that's ok too.

I believe that photo is from Eddy Lacy's rookie season where he was in the best shape of his Packer career.

Last year he was +20 lbs MORE than when this picture was taken.

Yeah that 6.8 yards per carry against the Seahawks first team defense looked really sloppy :laugh:

@Toruk_Makto -- you alive, chief?
I have said repeatedly I think Zeke will be very good here.

I have also said repeatedly we didn't need to spend a 4th on a running back to have an elite rushing attack.

Are you so obtuse that you don't understand nuance... like.... at all?

He needed that extra weight to run over Chancellor. If he was 6 lbs lighter he would have been tackled at least one of the two times he blew through the guy and picked up extra yards.

Someone should ask Kam Chancellor if Zeke is over weight.
