Rolando McClain Negotiations Not Good

When are we releasing Sean Lee whose taking up way more money and losing way more time?

Bruce Carter got money with Tampa and he was effectively benched for three or so games by the Cowboys.

When Sean Lee's contract is up in 4 years. He's staying . Cause he's a much better player and signed a cap-friendly deal and he actually LOVES the game of football.

Calm down folks. They are NEGOTIATING right now. Take everything with a grain of salt in one hand, grain of truth in the other.

I haven't read through 9 pages of this thread so forgive me if it's been mentioned but I don't trust a word out of Fisher's mouth when it comes to McClain. That guy was full of so much misinformation about McClain last year that it's not even funny. He has an axe to grind with the guy for whatever reason and he's proven to be the least reliable source when it comes to Rolando. Fisher has fleshed himself out to be a major douchebag, lately.

McClain, if he comes back, needs to be in much better physical condition than he was last season. Being out of shape contributed to a lot of his issues.

I agree, he always seemed to be on the injury reports, we never really knew if he was playing or not, and he missed what? 4 games? I'd rather go with somebody motivated and healthy. I like that kid that came from San Diego, seems like he will be a great fit.

I'll go on record and say I'm all for resigning McClain. He was a beast and intimidated the other team when he was on the field. Even former coaches (Gruden) jaws dropped after some of McClain's crushing tackles. With the addition of Hardy, Lee coming back, and the steady progression of young guys(Lawrence, Hitchens,& Crawford)....This Defense will put fear in our opponents. For those that say he tailed off at the end...of course he did! Lets not forget we picked him up off his couch right before the season started after taking the previous year off bc he was RETIRED! He obviously was out of shaped and still dominated before he tailed off. But don't get me wrong, I'm only for resigning him at the right price. My gut tells me that the Cowboys are going to pick a LB with there first pick anyway, so this is all a mute point anyway.

Well the offseason conditioning program starts here soon. If he isn't here for that then I don't want him. Insurance fraud aside, he was poorly conditioned and had several injuries associated with poor conditioning throughout the year. We all watched him suck in second half of games particularly early in the year. He was not able to adequately train himself on his own before. There is no reason to expect he do the same this time around.

Hopefully they get something worked out before then. He is a difference maker.

Nope, he is already missing four game checks and is not worth the risk to most teams.

SF might get desperate like we did last year now that Willis and Borland retired.

I don't see anyone signing him before the draft, so let's not worry about it until after then.

I think the opposite, I think we draft 1 LB and try and get 2 DL.

Yeah, when you invest in 2 free agents like they just did it looks like they might think that the draft may be weak in that area. 0-1 would be my thought.

Nope I saw it at the end of last year. Thanksgiving on , he was average at best.

Groin, illnesses and other dings and two concussions in a row. He clearly wasn't the worst of the bunch. We rarely got pressure up front.

He's played less in a year than McClain did and McClain hadn't played in two years. Doesn't matter how much football you love and can play if your off the field.

I love Sean Lee, but let's cut the double-standard. McClain suffered two concussions in a row during the stretch run. He had injuries too. But he played.

The 49ers just lost another LB, this time to injury. Separation makes people do things they otherwise would not do, like sign risky LBers with issues.

All motivation and suspension issues aside, the guy had two concussions the last two games he played. That alone is a massive red flag.

Fine man, it's a fine. This has been posted so many times lol.

With him not getting paid the first four weeks, the guaranteed money is likely the disconnect. The team likely wants to protect itself from him considering he has retired more times than he has been named a pro-bowler, which means all the money is in the base salaries. Which he's likely thinking he will miss out on quite a bit of money, due to himself though

The guy was easily the best defender last year and totally changed the feel of the defense when he was out on the field. You bring him back if you don't have to pay any crazy amount for him.
