Suddenly, the Patriots defense needs Mclain more than we do, when we got Glass Joe Sean Lee and everybody was saying our defense was the reason we wouldn't even make the play-offs last year. We aren't even guaranteed to have Hardy most of the year.

When did we start needing players less than the SB winning team. Of course they are cheaters, but you get my point.

Exactly. Somehow we don't need help when half of our defense walked. Somehow, Hitchens and castaways from other teams will just step in and replace the guy who redefined our defense last year. We'll trust Sean Lee to make it through a history of injury. We'll just plug in some 5th rounders we grabbed through the draft and everything will be ok.

I firmly believe there's a good reason why the team feels as lukewarm as they do about signing McClain. You can bet they know much more than any of us about what can be expected of him and what can't. NE won't give him much more than we would have, if anything at all. He's simply a highly unpredictable type of character.

This was my thinking also, they see him practice and the meeting rooms, so there could be other things at play here with Dallas. I would like him back though.

Are we trying to win the Warren Buffett award for frugality or are we trying to win a championship? You HAVE to take risks. You can't lowball all of your talent and win.

Everybody complained about Jerry and always wondered what it would be like when Stephen took over....................well, you are seeing it.

Stephen is the anti-Jerry...........where Jerry couldn't help but spend money on everybody, Stephen is not going to spend money on anybody.

We literally went from one extreme to another................will be interesting to see how this new philosophy pays off. Stephen is either going to look like a genius if we go 12-4 or he is going to look like a cheap skate that has no idea what he is doing if we go 8-8 or worse.

Stay tuned, this is going to be fun.

Yeah, I can easily relate to that. I'd enjoy seeing him return but only at the right price. His performance was quite valuable when it was available. As long as our financial commitment wasn't a burden, we'd be ok with him.

I can't believe we lost 3 linebackers and replaced them with 3 lesser ones and that is just fine for an ailing defense. Gonna pout about this even if I get flak.

We have Lee and Hitchens. And we do play 70% of our snaps in 2 LB sets.

I am all for signing McClain again but we also have to have use for him.
We cant have 4-5 LBs who are all starter material on our roster. Thats too much money invested and it hinders the progress of our draftees. And i do think we will draft another LB this year.

Would Sean Lee leave the stadium altogether and not show up to practices because of a concussion?

The going got tough and he got going.

If he had a severe concussion? Probably and whether or not Lee would, it's medically advisable to isolate yourself from severe stimuli after experiencing head trauma. An NFL lockerroom is probably rather stimulating post game, I would think.

We're both filling in gaps with a narrative and I get that but you have no basis to speak to motive.

This is hand writing on the wall, for me.

Motivation will come around in the presence of Rod Marinelli. Rolando McClain is still in both a formative as well as developing point in his own career. He also had some good stats in a role that was not his own in the team's departure from camp.

Where did this "he quit on us narrarive" come from?

Wasn't he the guy who showed up sick and was barred from the plane because he wanted to still travel and play?

I desperately want Ro back.

That doesn't fit into there agenda.
