I will say Romo shared in the failure but given the pressure he was under vs Minn I don't think any other QB would have faired any better.

How so? Dude couldn't get a block to save his life.

to be even close to as good as the two QB's we saw last night.

I had to stop you there. While I am a big Romo supporter... I will criticize him when its warranted.

Two things.

1. If Romo had that kind of protection he could put up the same numbers and hit all the open guys. (he has demonstrated that wayyyyy more than one time)

2. Lesser QB's than the QB's last night have won the SB

Romo is in the same league as Manning, Brees, Rivers etc.... He is an undrafted that plays with #1 draft pick "moxy" ;)

I hate to tell you this, but fanboy means exactly the same as homer. It is viewed as being overly devoted to whatever it is you are professing to the point of myopia or extreme bias.

The premise of the thread is just a little too goofy to me. The suggestion that only the top 2 QBs in the NFL lead their teams to the Super Bowl is fuzzy math at best.

That one key INT lost the 2nd biggest game of Manning's career.

I'm not sure you want to just blow that off. A weak attempt to bash Romo, at best, and yes I saw where you said you aren't knocking Romo. With the protection Brees got tonight, Romo would pick anyone in the NFL apart.

I think Brees performed outstanding, better than his usual. Romo is close.

You better believe Romo will go to the HOF, too. IMO, with better stats and achievements than Warner.

So you'd rather have Warner starting over Romo right now?

As good as Tony Romo can be at times... I think you are seriously underestimating the skill of Kurt Warner. They are two different types of QB's, though and in our situation we have to play the cards we have.

I have no problem with Romo, because he makes plays, but if it was an all or nothing game I'd want to take my chances with Warner throwing the ball. Mainly because he has a ring, more experience, and does everything we ask Tony to do which is find the open receiver, make accurate passes, and avoid turning the ball over...

Romo is getting there though... he's getting close.

Wow, I think we have a lot of fans who don't really know what we have in Romo.

I sure hope so.

I say if Romo keeps progressing and he either 1) wins one or two SBs or 2) at least appears in 3 or more SBs, than he will get in.

And yes, going forward, I would rather have Romo over Warner--because Warner is through or very close to it.

He is the QB I would say he could have checked out of some call based on what Minn was showing at times, he could have done a better job of not getting the ball stripped which he mentioned himself after the game. Was he the problem? No but as a member of a team you look at what you could have done better. As I mentioned I don't think any other QB would have faired very well in that game given the pressure on Tony. I know for a fact when Bress was put under that pressure the Cowboys put on him he was unable to get the job done.

I disagree, i think Romo is fine but he needs another WR weapon or two. Roy is more of a liability than asset

Say what you want about manning handling the blitz. Bottom line, he put up 17 points and was aided by an almost dominant running game last night. He also gave the saints 7 points. The colts may have moved the ball, but putting up 17 points will not get it done. In my opinion peyton had a bad game.

After watching that i'm not sure how you can say romo has a long way to go. Peyton had all day a lot last night and still couldn't get it done.

Garcon dropped a sure 7 and Reggie Wayne lost what hit him in the hands. The on-side kick was alos in the hands of the Colts. It was really just a game of key mistakes by the Colts at the wrong time.

Just to be clear on my thoughts:

1. romo is a top 5-7 QB and I think he is great.
2. But he isn't as good as Brees yet.
3. Romo would not have gone 32/37 in that game and we know it. When has he done that?

Do you guys really disagree on #2 and #3?

#2 I can honestly see people making a case for that and I don't have any issue with it. It's subjective from person to person but a case can certainly be made for Brees being a little better.

Though I can make the cause that Romo is the better Qb just as easily, so it goes both ways. But, for your question, yes I could easily agree with you on that.

#3 I don't agree. you have ZERO idea what he could do in that game, against that defense, with that kind of protection.

Lets not act like Brees went 32 of 37 in the game while running around, scrambling, having to make time for his receivers cause his O-Line is painfully average. Brees had ALL DAY to make those plays cause he has an O-Line that can actually pass block very well.

So you have zero idea of what Romo could or couldn't do in the same situation.

Talk about revisionist history. When Emmitt was not producing late in his career in Dallas, a la when the O_line sucked during his last years ( losing Stepnoski in FA was huge) fans were calling for Emmitt to retire. Everyone wanted Hambrick to start because he was averaging 5.0 yards a carry.:laugh2:

Not me. I hated Hambrick with a passion. Emmitt is my all time favorite Cowboy and I felt he still showed back then that while he wasn't as good as he once was he was still more than good enough to produce. I always felt that Hambrick was a by-product of teams not worrying about the run when Emmitt wasn't in the game and so it helped make Hambrick look better than he ever was.

Which I do believe panned out to be reality the moment Emmitt was no long there.

And Kurt Warner over Romo? WTH?

I can see how someone is making that claim based off the body of work. I don't know how anyone would honestly take Warner over Romo in the present as the QB you'd rather have going forward but I can definately see how they put Warner above him based on the entire body of work to this point.

Of course that wasn't really the question as it's the top 5 in the NFL right now and not top 5 based on their entire career.

And this surprises you? It should have been pretty obvious over the last 2 years that there are still a few fans that don't quite realise what they've got.

did you see the protection each QB got last night? sure they got pressured one every 5 passes unlike tony who is literally ducking for cover almost every pass play. this is gonna key for tony to win late in the season and in the playoffs. oline needs to buy him a bit more time then him hitting his back foot then having duck, do a 360, juke, step up and pass.

I absolutely agree. Manning for sure shoulders some blame for that pass at a very key moment but he's hardly the only guy who made key mistakes in this game that cost them.

I agree and it was not as if Romo could roll to the outside because when he tried to do that he would run right into a defender. We got beat on the line plain and simple.

EXACTLY.

I don't think some folks understand how much of a difference that makes. If Romo got that kind of time, with his weapons, he'd absolutely destroy NFL defenses.

Brees is absolutely outstanding, and we all know that, and he certainly benefits from one of the best pass blocking lines in the NFL.

Romo is outstanding, most of us understand that, but he spends far too much of his time having to make a very average offensive line look good.
Stop making excuses for Romo he is just good enough to get one playoff win that's it, the sooner we stop kidding ourselves the better.

That's because Tony is running for his life, our O-line is the most over rated in the league...
