To be fair, I've never seen that 61 attributed to Favre anywhere else. So I don't know if that's accurate or not.

But as far as Romo goes ... that articles numbers as far as the 40 yard dash, Wonderlic, and short shuttle times matchup to several other sources, so I think the arm speed one is likely accurate as well. And 57 mph is above average, as the Adrian McPherson link indicates.

And, once again, Troy Aikman says he throws the ball like a high round draft pick.

He'll probably get it to you about the same time you give us that blog link where Henson was throwing it 80 mph.

I read about people partying and being at the game.
He "may" have the better arm. But Romo completed 8-10 and Henson only 6-13. Facts again?

not all his incompletions were bad throws Nors...alot of his incompletions were throw aways to avoid the rush...

I'm guessing you didnt see the game, or you would have known that

I can find the blog link but what would it matter? A blog is not an expert opinion so why should I post it? I am not giving definitive numbers here I gave a range of numbers to show what I had read and what I seen on MNF. Now as far as Nors I will never see that link because he made it up.

Romo's arm strength seems plenty good to me. I don't think it's as strong as Henson's, but that doesn't mean it's weak.

What I like about Romo is his... um... there are many different ways to put this... moxie, fire, intangibles, guts. He's a gamer. He's just a football player. Favresqe. Leader. All of those things you can say about Romo.

However you want to say it though, he just has a little something that I think will make him a good QB. Favre has it. Montana had it. Whatever you want to call that trait, I like it in a QB... and so does Parcells.

I may be missing something here... but didn't this link:

http://www.thedailyeasternnews.com/...dy-378274.shtml

... have a line in it saying that Favre threw at 61? If so, the link has been provided on Nors behalf.

The 2002 Walter Payton Award winner astonished many scouts in throwing drills after being clocked at 57 mph, which is impressive compared to future Hall of Fame Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Farve's 61 mph.

I believe Aikman threw at 72 mph. That's the figure I heard when he was in his prime. The radio guys said it was an incredibly high number for a football.

Found it It was a transcript from a radio show on 105.3

....Pugs offers to stand in front of the fence and allow Drew Henson fire all six balls at him, if they show up tonight. Eric thinks that's ******** because Henson can throw a football 80 mph. Pugs remembers that he was a pitcher for the Yankees too. Pugs wants a helmet and Kelly reminds him that he probably has one in his closet from his childhood.....

I didn't see much of it last night. He looked OK. He threw well to our pro bowl TE who was being covered by second stringers. I saw one really nice pass where he floated one to Witten. Maybe he'll be a good QB, maybe he won't. But I haven't seen much in the way of intangibles - probably because they are intangible.

Agreed, I see the same thing. The great ones make it look easy. That was the thing about Joe Montana ... he just made it look so easy. If you didn't know he was THE Joe Montana with the 4 Superbowl Rings and just watched him during the course of the game like any anonymous player you would think "This guy isn't that special. Lots of guys can throw the quick slant. Lots of guys can just roll out and hit the TE on a 3rd and 5."

I'm not saying Romo is Joe Montana, but he does make things look easy. So much so that its almost a detriment to him sometimes. First hand accounts said that Romo didn't play that greaet last week in the scrimmage, but when you look at his numbers he almost had a 100 QB rating and lead the team to their only TD. Last night, he supposedly didn't do anything all that great, and had a 103 QB rating (thats with his longest reception on the night nullified by a penalty).

I also like the fact that he seems to be a winner who is successfull in everything he does.

http://www.thedailyeasternnews.com/media/paper309/news/2003/02/25/Sports/Romo-Impresses.At.Indy-378274.shtml

here's the body of the article:

Eastern quarterback Tony Romo must have appreciated being in Indianapolis this weekend because at the NFL combine held in the racing capital of the world, he did everything fast.

"I wanted to show everyone that speed wasn't a problem," Romo said. "This was excatly why I worked so hard for two weeks in Florida, and it payed off."

The NFL prospect was placed in the second group Sunday afternoon along with Southern California's Carson Palmer, Louisville's Dave Ragone and Texas' Chris Simms.

Romo earned the second-fastest time in the shuttle run and was timed at 4.9 seconds in the 40-yard-dash.

"Basically, that's why I went to Florida, to increase my speed, and I feel like I'm a completely different player since I left," Romo said.

Romo impressed even himself during the IQ test by answering correctly 37 of 50 questions in only 12 minutes. The highest score last season during the combine was 41 and most quarterbacks only got through 22 questions.

"The whole point of the test was to see how quickly you can process the information given," Romo said.

The 2002 Walter Payton Award winner astonished many scouts in throwing drills after being clocked at 57 mph, which is impressive compared to future Hall of Fame Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Farve's 61 mph.

"My arm strength has gotten much stronger since my last game at Eastern," Romo said.

Romo ended the day by answering question from the media for a day-long record of nearly 38 minutes until Simms stayed at the podium for 45 minutes after Romo.

"It was cool that the media wanted to talk to me but it didn't even seem like I was up there for that long," Romo said.

Throughout the afternoon, Romo interviewed with quarterback coaches and offensive coordinators from the Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears.

"I have no idea who might take me but the teams that I interviewed with are the ones who really like me," Romo said.

Predictions on which round Romo will be selected have ranged from the third to the seventh round in next April's NFL Draft. However, Romo and his International Management Group team are confident in his status.

"It changes everyday, but I think I really solidified myself this weekend," Romo said. "People think agents know everything before the draft, but the NFL is so secretive with everything."

Romo went into the RCA Dome with high exceptions and was not nervous about the weekend workouts.

"The prediction was even if I didn't perform well, it was because I was a small-town guy, but I went there with something to prove," Romo said.

I don;t know if I buy that number because on MNF their "speed inicator" showed him quite a bit higher. I dont know how reliable it is but it contradicts this article. Who knows.

Yep. And that's why Parcells like the guy too.

I don't know either... I was simply saying that it was in this article, right or wrong.

I'm interested to see the next couple of pre-season games. I wonder if Parcells is going to leave Romo at #2 or move Henson up there for a game or two.

Yeah thanks for linking again i missed it 1st time.

I believe Parcells talked about rotating backups in preseason. So I expect Henson will start next game.

Its quite possible that number came from Favre's Combine and he throws faster now. What isn't in debate is that 57 mph is somehow a sub-average number. It may not be in Jeff George's league, but that might not be a bad thing. If you're consistantly having to thread the ball in tight spaces, you're probably doing something wrong.
