Stephen Jones On Spencer, Possible DeMarco Extension

Right after you tell me why he sometimes disappears in games.

And that's a valid point with Dez.

But if the Cowboys have to bend over and grap their ankles I'd rather they do it with Dez rather than Murray.

lets agree to disagree

Are you a Dallas Cowboys fan ? Or a Dez fan ?

If the first your question should not be if we should keep Dez. Your question should be: Does a NFL franchise need a dominant WR to win the SB. And the answer to that is: No.

So everything else is so meaningless.

Dunbar is a completely different back... He's 5'8"/195lbs. Comparing apples and oranges.

Plus Dunbar was signed as UFA out of college.

Spend a 3rd draft pick on another RB and you'll probably find someone of similar talent to Murray.

And just wait another three years until he can pass block worth trusting, as well...

Next draft this team needs to go big on defense. So these are your options.

Stick with the back-ups at RB here and hope.
Use a second to replace a guy who delivers to save a few buck, therefore not drafting a highly talented defender.
Wait until the later rounds and hope you hit.

Or offer the guy money and keep your draft picks for what the team really needs.

I get it, you think you can replace him. I think you are about to see the reason why they drafted him in the first place.

And want to break up the double at the line against Dez? Find someone who commands respect on the other side.

You're just talking the draft.

That doesn't mean that a suitable replacement won't be available through free agency.

Here is something to consider.

Say Romo regains his mojo. How effective will the offense be with a back who can lead the league behind a line who can create holes and protect a 34 year old QB?

But the fact remains winning football teams build around play makers. This fortune cookie mindset that suggests RB's are a dime a dozen also thinks things like moving corner backs to safety. Make Marinelli the head coach, Garrett really knows how to game manage and other things which make no sense.

Build a team around play makers and the team will win. Shuttle off play makers because they play a position which is not in favor at the moment and the odds of increasing the misery this team routinely suffers increases exponentially.

Kind of like looking at one's own budget and deciding to just not pay the bills...

Winicki, then why don't they save the money on Dez and just get them a couple of free agent receivers?

Nothing will be settled here. It is my belief Murray is the first big time running back this team has had since 22. The real truth will come out when you find where Romo truly is physically.

The Titans were not a good yardstick, so all this could go by the wayside in three weeks. But Murray gets to the second level and makes things happen. None of the others do that consistently.

Agree completely. Murray has always delivered when feed the ball.

Another perspective, I would be interested in how the scouting department views the running backs in the 2015 draft. If the scouting department deems the draft as one filled with talent, it may dampen the desire to pay Murray a top tier contract.

Well no matter what we think, this will play out in one of three ways...

1. Murray is resigned/extended and receives a contract at $7mil per year (or more).

2. Murray is resigned/extended and receives a contract less than $7mil per year.

3. Murray signs with another team.

We'll see how things play out.
