LOL at basically still blaming Wade even years after he's gone.

So absurd, but then the Garrett Groupies will concoct any and all excuses for their man.

Has there ever been a coach in the history of the Cowboys, that a portion of the fan base has turned over every rock imaginable, searching for something to place the blame on for the failure of a team other than the coach himself?

We're not blaming anything. Because we're not the ones dissatisfied with the current direction. We're explaining to you the reasons we see for how long the process has ended up taking.

What's it going to be then, eh?

No.

This is cult territory. I just wonder when the grape kool aid comes out.

It is not blame you are correct.

It is an excuse.

I thought Garrett had basically taken over the GM duties and was the driving force behind this vastly improved roster.

Ouch, that is going to hurt

But, on the off chance , he hasnt taken over, isn't the hiring of Garrett also one of a series of bad decisions by said bad GM?

What's the difference in your head between a reason and an excuse? Because I see little need for JG to excuse anything.

Do you always ramble to avoid addressing the point?

Fact is, you and others use what you see as Phillips' incompetence over and over again as something Garrett had to overcome and somehow that explains the toil in mediocrity.

That is an excuse.

You ought to add "ramble" to the list of words you need to look up, Alexander. And "fact," apparently.

And I don't think Wade was incompetent. I think he missed a very short window and he was never a head coach who was able to actually build a team. That's entirely consistent with what I said about him at the time, as well. Unlike most of you guys who bashed him then and try to use him as a prop now.

Not using him as a prop. I see it as it is.

Garrett is in the exact same situation as Phillips was. Saddled with a poor GM and grossly negligent cap mismanagement.

I just do not choose to live in world of delusion where I think he is capable of overcoming handicaps, nor do I imagine his situation when he took over had nothing to do with him. He had plenty of organizational stroke even before he was handed the job. I don't see him "building" anything, nor do I see him having his fingerprints on the way we do things.

He is not changing anything. He is not building something special. He is trying to survive, while dealing with his own problems when it comes down to handling the ebb and flow of a football game.

He knew exactly what he was getting into. He has the advantage of having Jones in his corner for the most part and he still cannot get over the hump.

Yet there is every excuse in the world rolled out why this is just some long drawn out process that begs patience.

We're not going to agree on the job Garrett's done, but this is at least a perfectly reasonable way for you to look at things. I wouldn't dispute much of it except I do believe he has slowly changed things and I do believe this is a process that begs patience.

It's also not an excuse to believe this. I may be wrong. Or he may be out of time, regardless. Why can't it just be that he's trying to do something very difficult under even more difficult circumstances in Dallas and it's unclear whether or not he's good enough to do so? Why does blame or excuse making even enter into it? Can't there just be room for a difference of opinion on an uncertain topic?

The answer is simple.

This is a results based business.

If you use the same criteria that other head coaches have been judged by, he is exactly where he should be.

Prove it.

But again, he cannot because he is not on charge. At most he is more persuasive.

What, pray tell, does the length of time since him destroying what Parcells created have to do with our ability to make that argument?
