Please continue to try to ignore the fact that his receivers dropped two sure touchdowns in week one, as if nobody else actually watched the game. Or ignore the other in week two, erased by a PI grab that put the team in position to score from the 1-yard line. And then lack the self-awareness to call out others as "dim-witted" and use the word "real" to describe things.

It continues to be hilarious!

:lmao:
He has zero touchdowns, fact. Deal with it. Like you couldn't go through every Qb in the league's game log and play coulda shoulda. You continue to be a joke!

If I"m reading you right, it sounds like you and Roy are saying that for the time being, the Dallas Cowboys are Tony Romo's team. But that, sooner or later, they'll be Dak Prescott's team, and hopefully for a long while after that? I would think that would be something we can all agree on.

I'm saying that it shouldn't be a fait accompli or assumed that Tony Romo should simply be handed the starting job back.

Prescott is leading this team and putting them in position to win. Showing poise beyond his year and often overcoming the mistakes of his teammates. That shouldn't simply be disregarded to get back on the Romo-coaster of will he or won't he survive the next hit?

I say let things play out over the next several weeks before deciding -or saying - anything.

This has NOTHING to do with who is a better passer right now.

But that being said............there are plays that Dak is making that Romo would be getting killed on.

Pot meet kettle.

The "fact" is that he has one rushing touchdown, but you can't even get that part right.

Keep trying to ignore the reality of things while you have the ignorance, nerve and lack of self-awareness to try to call out others.

And it's not even his time yet.

I can't wait for Tony Romo to get back. Can't wait. His experience and know-how back in the backfield again, changing protections, signaling a route adjustment to Dez, pointing out the Mike, carving up the defense with his mind and his fancy pocket feet. The entire playbook back at our disposal. Let this big dog of an offense eat.

I so hope the Romo magic is still there. It's glorious to watch, and this season needs it, especially if a playoff game is in its future. He deserves another chance or two, and I hope he gets it.

But....suddenly, it's not nearly as critical as before. No longer are we pressured by the hear-and-now, because this team is no longer under the heavy microscope of the present and past. Sure, it is for Romo, but not for this team. Not for us. Not anymore.

There is a future. Say it with me.....by gosh, there's life after Romo. By some cruel joke to Cowboy haters everywhere, the Cowboys have stumbled on to Dak Prescott late in the draft after a half dozen had gone before him. It's another Romo miracle.

It's not just that Prescott can play. The real story is that Romo and Prescott are the too most poised, mature, well-mannered, serious, studied, and personality-polished players on the roster right now. Prescott doesn't just play like a veteran, he ACTS like one. None of this seems overwhelming to him.

Prescott isn't jaw-jacking after he makes a play. He's not look-at-me showboating after he scores, or getting into it with opponents. He more or less told Dez to shut up and play last week by telling the media he's not concerned about how many catches he receiver gets. I loved that. When he plays, it's Prescott's huddle. Nobody challenges him, and he wouldn't tolerate it if they did.

Plus, Prescott has a body built for the brutality of the position, and with a penchant for keeping plays alive and his eyes downfield. Prescott can run, but he doesn't unless there's no option. That is a real QB, and it will serve his longevity well. It's important because that ability tends to leave mid-career like it did Romo, so to be a QB first is vital. He won't be 23 forever.

Romo will return sometime after the first 4-6 games. It'll be fun to see him out there, and I hope he can still play like the Tony we know. I hope the back issues settle down and the collar bone is strong so this deserving warrior can finish his career on his terms this year and next.

But if not....if that back torques wrongly or that shoulder shatters again, we won't be held hostage this time with our heads buried in our hands. You know that position too well. We've all assumed it a few times in recent years.

If there's another unfortunate next time, we can say a sincere 'thanks' to Tony and turn the page. It'll be an unfair ending for a guy that's shouldered this team through tough times, taking Jerry's 3-13 rosters to 8-8 and beyond. What Romo has done with historically bad defenses and no-name offensive lines is nothing short of Hall-of-Fame worthy. Football ain't always fair.

Whatever happens, our football anxieties have been cured by an almost accidental afterthought of a compensatory pick in the 4th round. It's almost like finding an unknown kid from Eastern Illinois all over again. Just listen to the teeth-grinding around the league. Imagine the Commander fans' thoughts yesterday watching Dak. Yummy.

So the Dallas Cowboys are still Tony Romo's team. Sooner or later, it'll be Dak Prescott's. For about the next 10-15 years, in fact.

What a beautiful thing to write with confidence.
Nice piece.

But that's not what this thread is about now, is it. It's about Romo being the starter when he's over the injury. Your statement makes zero sense. No one is saying Romo should be playing now when he obviously can't due to the injury.

I think its quite clear that what I am saying doesnt make sense to you. I dont know how I can help you there.

People are counting Romo now and in the future for years. That seems foolish to me given the recent past and current situation. And considering what we have seen from Dak it appears we no longer have to.

I dont see why that is so offensive to certain people. I have been a die hard Romo fan for 10 years. But at this point relying on him is detrimental to the team. I am tickled pink we may have found the next franchise QB. And he looks VERY special to me.

100% correct.

And I will take that a step further..........Not sure if you agree or not.

THIS whole franchise would be better off if Dak was soooooo good in the next few weeks that we never had to go back to Romo.

I see great points on both sides of this argument. But to me, Dak has a lot to learn about the NFL that only experience and wisdom can teach. There is no doubt that Dak is a better athlete than Tony is at this point. But Tony has a world of knowledge that needs to be passed on to Dak. It's a slow digestion period. There are too many intricacies to the game to gobble up in one bite. We can either forge Dak in fire or develop his mind to prepare him for the game. I prefer the latter. I want an educated QB behind the stick. His time will come. Most likely sooner than later. But let's feed his mind before we feed him the ball.

I want a healthy QB that can lead this team when the defense is good enough to contend.

We'll see where Dak is soon.

After Chicago and San Francisco, he gets to face Cincinnati and Green Bay. Then, we'll have an accurate progress report.

That is, unless Romo is closer to returning than we know.

Is there even an argument going on here? I'm not sure anymore.

As do I. As do all of us. Hopefully sooner than later if we can make a few solid draft picks and a FA pick up or two on D. But if that's the case. I mean if you want to wait till the D is better, wouldn't it be better for Dak to watch and learn till then? Have you already given up on Romo? I know what you're answer is going to be but some of us still see the potential in him and are very excited about Dak waiting in the wings. If Romo goes down again, Dak gets forged in flame. If Romo stays healthy and performs, Dak gets to learn things he otherwise wouldn't have. He's a rookie. The NFL is NOT college. Let the kid learn. He needs it.

You simply know very little about football. And I have no interest in teaching you.

Go find another forum. You add nothing here.
Hahahah... I never read this far. I only read your OP and immediately responded while weeping tears of joy.

Zero to 60 in less that 3 seconds. You might want to change your name to Tesla. :D
