Time to seriously start considering possibility of Tunsil

I draft BPA or trade out of the spot

To make sure I'm understanding you: If no trade was avialable and an OT was the top player on the board at each of your first 3 picks, you'd invest them all in OTs?

The odds of an OT being the BPA in the first three picks would be astronomically high. So it's a strawman argument

It's not at all. I'm trying to illustrate that my belief that even those suggesting it be taken as gospel don't mean it. The hypothetical situation doesn't need to be likely to do that.

Two in a row then? How about a kicker in the 6th over a DE or CB you have rated a few points lower? Wentz then Lynch in the first two rounds?

The thing is, Jerry basically said they won't take Tunsil. So it's either

1. Trade down
2. Bosa
3. Ramsey

I'm in that order of preference, unless Goff somehow dropped to 4 (doubtful.) I think Bosa could turn into a Pro Bowler at SDE. Ramsey seems overrated, particularly if we want him to play corner. I just don't think he's a top 5 pick.

If a kicker is rated higher than a DE or CB then that kicker is a phenomenal talent and can boot 60 yarders with ease. So yes. I take the kicker.
As far as your Wentz then Lynch question goes. I will have to refrain from answering because you didn't finish the question.

You never pass up elite talent. Tunsil is elite.

Exactly. Considered the unanimous best player in this draft until Rams traded up to number one and scrambled the top 5 order. Always take the guy who's head and shoulders better than anyone else at the big 3 positions in football: QB, LT, pass rusher

Don't over think it Steve.

I am not sure I agree with the notion that the offensive line has been dominant. The line has been mediocre at best at pass protection in my opinion.

They have given up over 30 sacks each of the last few seasons, which is middle of the pack. However, they have also thrown the ball less than any other team.

Tyron Smith has given up 14 sacks the last 2 years and had 14 penalties.

Doug Free has 8 sacks the last 2 seasons and had 13 penalties.

The players are ranked in groups/tiers. For any given spot their is likely to be several other positions available before dropping to the next tier. That first tier is always a small group of players so your options are limited when you're picking towards the back end of that group. Tunsil would not fill one of our biggest needs but it would fix our OL's weakest link and fill our need for a real swing tackle,,, and we can always trade the guy in a couple of years for a high price, more than we could for those other players. Heck, they could trade him THIS year for a high price.

Yeah, the trenches just aren't that important.

Hey, what cover guy are you targeting there?

It's simple really.

With the resources on the line already, I can expect the law of diminishing marginal utility to be applicable. In this instance, where a competent resource is producing effectively and a 3rd round pick is behind him, I can't imagine the marginal utility gained in OL effectiveness would outweigh the opportunity costs.

Nothing personal.
