Trey Lance trade is one of the worst moves Jerry has ever done

And that’s say a lot. There was absolutely no reason to make this trade at this time in the year for another QB. He’s probably not going to play at all this season. All it does is create QB controversy with the haters who actually believe that he’s better than Dak. And what’s worse, MM had no idea about the trade until it was already done. Dumb move by the ownership. Just horrible timing right before the season opener.
The QB position is scarce in this league. Developing a raw talent can pay dividends in the future. This year is probably just is a scout QB that will help our defense preparing for those read option QB's. Next year he will be competing against Rush to become the primary backup, after that depending on his development he could ascend higher, but he has a long way to go to even be in that discussion.

Media types like ESPN, Fox looking for the ratings will try to create a QB narrative, but inside the star, they know Dak remains their franchise QB, until proven otherwise. Dak haters can cry after every bad play or bad game he has, but he isn't going to be benched or replaced any time soon.

Some of the best offenses in the NFL? A playoff win against Tom Brady, albeit an aged one?

We've had 30 years of failure in the organization and still going because Jerry is still trying to prove the 90's success is him and not Jimmy Johnson. The QB can only do so much, and the lack of offense reared it's ugly head as many predicted it would once Amari, the best WR on the team, was traded for a bag of cheetos. The FO DID make a great adjustment this year in picking up Cooks.

The real issue however, is Jerry and son, once again making isolated moves to showcase that, "Hey look at me! I'm the reason the Cowboys are great!"

This trade is a solid one on paper. I'm just not thrilled about the actual process of the trade. Aside from that, at least we're slowly molding into something that resembles an actual football team since all of the Jerry coaching projects are no longer in the building.
If Dak's performance is subpar, it's a team thing. If the team does well it's a Dak thing.
Got it.

No it isn’t. The highest level backup they’ve had over the years is a washed up Andy Dalton. This kid has a lot of upside, but was also a huge bust. It’s the opposite of what the Cowboys have done with the position.
Don't forget Kitna.

There is something to be said about a player being drafted in the Top 5 and either his personality or the coaching staff he goes to (or both) causes a bad situation (aka possible bust) to become worse. There are also cases where a QB in that situation goes elsewhere via trade and blossoms into a legitimate QB (look at Drew Brees who spent 5 seasons with the Chargers and left for the Saints or Brett Favre who was drafted by Atlanta only to be traded to GB the next season).

Time will tell what Trey Lance becomes but trading a 4th for a #3 overall QB isn't a bad trade.
Sure, but now consider the fact that he was actually a 4th/5th round project player.

Takeaway: Absurd. And I don't recall you being this prone to hyperbole, but maybe I just have never paid that much attention to which posts are yours.

One can reasonably dislike the trade. But it's. Just. Not. THAT. Big. Of a deal.
There it is, well said.

This trade, whether you're in the positive or negative about it, IS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL.

when you believe everything Jerry says you are going to get taken for a ride.
That said, calling this the worst ever is an idiotic post.
and unless he somehow begins to light it up then there is no QB controversy; and what fans say CLEARLY has never counted with Jerry

Jerruh doesn't listen to the haters. Neither do the coaches, nor do the players.
TL won't make much more difference than Will Grier would have. He just has a bigger name.

Hey, Jerry is whatever suits a person's narrative!...or whatever gets that person a laugh.
My Jerry Jones narrative has never strayed from describing him as a not self-centered, lovable, Joe Six Pack sort of guy, who never micro-manages, knew more about the sport than more qualified football executives from day one, and has an average sized ego just like most individuals.

Really? Last I checked Trey Lance was not out of the league yet and is only 23 years old with the opportunity to succeed....but you do your 'neutral Dak' thing.
Im sorry. Do I need to be a Dak hater or lover to dissaprove of this trade?

The Cowboys can't dictate when SF is going to trade players. You have to take advantage of a situation when it becomes available. It doesn't mater what the calendar says at the top of the page.
Somebody definitely took advantage. That I will agree with.

Mo Claiborne, Stephen Jackson, Roy Williams.

Jerry has made many trades that makes this one pale in comparison. The Amari trade was worse, as we had to pay him right away and it was a short term rental. Much worse.

Rush and Grier would easily make practice squad without getting picked up by another team.

Lance is an upgrade over both Rush and Grier and I don't see anything wrong with upgrading positions..... Even backups
Right now Lance is not an upgrade to anyone on this team. If and when we release Grier, the QB room just got weaker. Lance has unrealized potential, that's it. The question is whether we'll ever see it.

Actually no, smart move IMO, why keep Grier (yes he had a very good game playing for his career life against the powerhouse Raiders) when you can get a guy who might, might mind you be able to take over for Dak at some point, 0% chance of Grier or Rush being that guy, With Lance you have upgraded your QB core and added a slim but maybe chance that he becomes something more valuable later.

You don't have a clue on the truth. This player was ranked by Dallas as a second round talent when he was drafted.

For the past 22 years, Dallas has not drafted above the 4th round at quarterback. Why? They had plenty of candidates ranked at the 2nd round level, but those were not available when it was the Cowboys' pick.

Lance was rated a 2nd round talent, and they now got him for a 4th round pick.

There have been quite a few respected quarterbacks picked up over the years, if the veteran elements' crusade is what you are on.

There is a similarly long period fo Dallas for quarterback and with experience. This is not such a comparison category.
