I liked Steinbach to, but the player has to want to come here too. Davis will play RG and be an improvement over Rivera

That's not saying much.


If Davis ends up our RG we'll be ok. If he's our RT then we downgraded that position and paid out the arse to do it. I don't have to "give him a chance" either. I know he sucks as a RT.

Just reading the arizona board. They blame a missed block by Davis for Leinart's shoulder injury that put him out the last two games. I hope and pray we do not put him at tackle.

My biggest question about Davis is, "Would Parcells have brought this guy in?"

I dont think he would, he seems to be the exact opposite of Kosier. Parcells seemed to favor more athletic guards. That said Im not too sure the Kosier signing was all that great either.

I would have been OVER JOYED TO GIVE THIS KIND OF MONEY TO STEINBACH. Davis has underperformed his entire professional career. And anyone think he can handle the speed rushers at tackle need to watch some games where he tried. Realisitically, no one that big can handle those really quick guys.

If you want to tell me Davis hasn't done anything, fine. But what has Steinbach ever done? Steinbach was a Probowl alternate at guard. Davis was a Probowl alternate at left tackle in 2005. Neither guy is perfect. And Davis played the most difficult spot on the line. As much as I did (and still do) want Colombo back, he wasn't exactly lightening quick last year. He held up well because other teams best pass rushers were generally on the other side of the line. When I looked at our game against AZ last year, Davis looked pretty good to me. To the extent that he struggled, his main reason for struggling was Demarcus Ware. Put him on the right side, and I'll bet we wind up with a pretty good player.
