What would you do about Roy? Trade him?

Yeah.

Or maybe you're covering up for his obvious deficiencies in coverage.....

He's at his best when he's not covering.

Ah yes, the old "the coaches are lying" approach. That always works when you don't know what you're talking about.

The coverage responsibilty would then be Newman's. Just like it was to start the play. The offense put the pressure on the defense to smoothly switch coverage responsibilities. Williams failed to.

The players were responsible for an area.

Let's say Watson runs an out along the goal line and Moss runs a fade to the back. Who covers whom?

Let's say Watson runs a curl to the back of the end zone and Moss runs an in along the goal line in front of Roy. Who covers whom?

These are examples of an offense trying to overload a zone defense. It's a players' job to adjust to that - or at the very least to play the same defense their teammates are playing.
If I say "wrong" will you be mad at me?

I will not argue with you that he sometimes tackles with poor form.

However, look at the stats for who is leading the team in tackles and see where Roy ranks. He is doing a great job.

That's right, I said a "great" job. I meant it too.

This "wrapping up" argument is just something new the haters are trying to use.

RW is always among the leaders on the team in tackles and his big hits is what the fans grew to love, never involved a "wrap up."

Now he is a popular scapegoat so they attack his tackling technique as well.

Then when he does wrap up and get hit for the horse collar penalty they will attack him on that too.

What I think the haters need to do is actually watch two other games a week.

This way they have some other players to compare RW too and then take a look back and see who they would trade RW for.

Case and point in last nights game... Hall wasn't the only being beat for completion after completion - Milloy was being beat up and down the field as well (including a 43 yard TD)

So new rule... watch 2 other games each weekend along with the Dallas game and then post - can we put that in the policy?

It’s like brainwashing at the Zone. Roy is good in coverage. Roy is not to blame. Roy is great. LOL. After awhile you start to think well maybe im wrong...but then you remember Santana Moss and Plaxico Burress. I love Roy and i hope that he can play better. As a fan, i’d like to see him be that dominate player i know he can be. High expectations yes, but he has that potential and we have seen it before.

Again, you're not answering the questions. You're just blindly blaming Roy when you don't even know what should have happened.

Maybe you just don't like the answers I'm giving because they don't jive with yours?

or maybe you're wrong and several people have tried to explain it but you've got tom jackson in your pocket and that's that.

What?!?!

How are the 'coaches lying' when they're taking their own player out of coverage responsibilities as much as they can?

Reality seems to support my claims better than some others.

When the coaches are taking him out of coverage, it supports my stance regarding his deficiences.

Hardly.

You've got your opinion, I've got mine.

Reality backs up mine.

The guy is often a liability in coverage.

I know it.

The coaches know it.

And the rest of the NFL knows it.

Nope, i came to those conclusions on my own. My dad a big Cowboy fan thinks Roy is old and washed up, lots of people do not agree with you guys. But hey, if Roy has a great game, i will be rooting and be very happy.

You're not even answering the questions. I asked, "Who covers whom?" And your answer is, "The players were responsible for an area." What kind of answer is that?

Again I asked, "Who covers whom?" And your answer is, "These are examples of an offense trying to overload a zone defense."

Just say who should cover whom on each play. (Your answers for each question should include the words "Roy should cover ...," "Newman should cover ..." and "Hamlin should cover ...")

1) Watson runs a curl in front of Roy and Moss runs a fade into the back corner. Who covers whom?

2) Watson runs a curl to the back of the end zone and Moss runs a curl to the front. Who covers whom?

3) Watson runs an out along the goal line and Moss runs a fade to the back. Who covers whom?

4) Watson runs a curl to the back of the end zone and Moss runs an in along the goal line in front of Roy. Who covers whom?

Because THEY said they're not covering up a weakness (Stewart specifically said it's NOT a weakness), they said they're exploiting a strength.

It's like saying Ware must not be good in coverage because we're rushing him more this season. No, it's because his strength is rushing the passer, so he should be rushing more and covering less -- even though he's good in coverage.

Why don't you explain it to me?

You seem to have it all figured out.

Make it real simple so that I can understand it.

The hits have dried up, it makes it a lot harder to gloss over Roys poor form when he isn't knocking people out of the game and instead diving at legs or grabbing on for dear life on a guys shoulder pads.

Wasnt it Burress who called him a glorified ankle tackler? Its not just the fans pointing this stuff out.

I guess its not Parcell's fault, Roy still stinks in coverage. Roy and D.Hall are the most overrated players in the league.

Appeals to popularity never signify strong arguments, for either side.

Lots of people are idiots.

Then I think it's time you lower your expectations. I think he's at the peak of his potential. Roy's been in the league six years, I don't know how much more improvement you're going to get out of him.

To me, he is great around the LOS, average in coverage.

Hey, I am a big Roy Williams fan also and will not slam you Hos for pulling for a great player.

The facts are Hos, Roy is trying for the big knockout hits (ESPN POD).......gets sucked in by play action fakes and getting beat for huge first downs and sometimes touchdowns.

Now, I love the Cowboys and I am still a fan of Roy's and will not sell my #31 autographed jersey, HOWEVER comma, I tell it like I see it and that is how I view his play as of Oct 15, 2007!

GO COWBOYS! GO ROY (get out of your slump)! SUPER BOWL BABY!
