What would you do about Roy? Trade him?

Let's trade him for a safety that never gives up a completion or blows an assignment.

Oh wait, those don't exist.

Your the only one using the word "NEVER" as a gauge here.

And I don't want him traded. BUT YES cutting down the mental mistakes isnt too much to ask here either...

Since you missed it .... I will repeat.

The Colts and Pats safeties get beat just as much, if not more, than Roy .....

Dallas, I think, has a better secondary than the Colts and just as good of one as the Pats .....

"Get It!"

No,That is not true.

Wow, just wow. Why the clammering for RW trade now? He didn't have a bad game Sunday. He is still one of the best safeties in the league. No, we don't trade him.

he has 51 passes defensed in 5 seasons...by comparison sake, Ed reed (who gets his hands on alot of throws) has 62 in the same time frame...thats 11 more PD's in 5yrs...so I am not sure what you are complaining about

if you truly believe that, there is no sense in arguing with you...it takes a 10 cent head to belive something like that

David

The only 10 cent head is the same the crap people keep defending about Roy. Lets take last year for example Roy and Watkins (a 4th round rookie I expect him to make mistakes) both had the wr bracketed in the end zone the ball goes deep to the wr both safeties let the ball fall into the wr hands never making a play on the ball and tackle the wr in the end zone for a TD. Yep typical Roy play right there in position and choked.

This has been a standard procedure for Roy. Lets see how many times have we seen Roy come over for late help after the wr catches the ball. Way to often yes it happens but it happens way more than it should.

So call me what ever the truth is Roy Williams is a liability in pass coverage and he no longer has Zimmer for fans to blame. I defend Roy in the past but nothing has changed in 3 years with him.

Fortunately this is the 21st century and there is a glut of both television coverage and "experts" who just can't wait to break it down for us.They have the film and the equipment so I let them do it and watch it on TV. Of course I do pay attnetion in the games but there is only so much you can really see via a network broadcast.Take a good look at the TD's scored over him in not only the last game but in most every game and tell me he "get's it".I mean take a GOOD look.
You encouraged everyone to break down Roy's play against the Patriots, yet you haven't done it yourself?

Hardly a good way to present such a compelling argument.

and unfortunately most of these "experts" are stupid.

you're right in that there is a glut of people saying what's on their mind. you can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone with a blog who says what's on their mind. suddenly, because someone took the time to write it down, it's real and true.

vs. just some ignorant fan with $6.95 a month to spend on his hobby-blog.

your mind is made up - as you've shown. anything less than you being right is unacceptable to you and at this point, why bother trying to have a rational discussion with someone so irrational?

Roy is having a great year. This is a dumb thread.

Now, that is an accurate statement.
Roy is a good player, is worthy of his Pro Bowl recognition and is having a good year.

All fairweather band wagoners get off of Roy.

Just because someone does not agree does not make them fairweather or a bandwagoner.

Just to clarify that part

I also think Roy is not having a good year

here's a breakdown sunday night from tom jackson after a great boise state/nevada game

the play was the first td vs the pats to randy moss

dallas is in zone as they clearly show. the TE that roy was going to cover in part of the zone as he was up on the LOS broke to the sideline, and newman released moss to roy. roy stayed in coverage with the te, instead of taking moss as newman released him. hamlin is in deep cover as covering the back of the endzone. moss runs past roy into open space. easy TD to moss with hamlin 5 yrds away from him.

and they showed the reaction of hamlin and roy after the play. hamlin looks at roy and says something to him, and roy puts his head down.

What a surprise!

I am not surprised people think other wise but it is my opinion last I looked and we can have difference of opinion this is a message board last I looked.

I also notice I am not the only one that think Roy is not having a good year.

That still does not make me or anyone else a bandwagon fan

Roy Williams is one of the most overrated players in the league. He is living off of good seasons and jacked up reels that happened years ago. His play has steadily gotten worse. He refuses to wrap up when he tackles and he cant cover anything. I wouldnt miss him for a second if we got rid of him, but we wont. I think its about gut check time for Roy. Does he want to improve to the level he once was at? Or does he just want to throw his shoulder at people and call it a day?

He wont get traded, but its time for management to take a hard look at SS and evaluate if the performances merit the money being spent.

The idea of judging a coverage assignment based on who had their head down after the play is beyond dumb. We don't know whether Roy blew the assignment or whether Hamlin blew the assignment. Or heck, we don't know whether Newman blew the assignment.

But what we do know is that Moss was standing in front of Hamlin when he caught the ball. If Hamlin wasn't supposed to at least attempt a play on that ball, then his assignment must have been to simply run to the goal post and stand there.

Pointless. It's like trying to find a willing family for the oldest, fattest kid in the orphanage. Not gonna happen. Sadly, we're stuck with each other.

As I recall Roy was playing closer to the line than Newman. He went with the TE. Why would Newman release the WR to Roy when he knew Roy was lined up closer to the line, that doesn't make sense. Perhaps Hamlin was supposed to get over? Perhaps Newman made the mistake. I also recall the announcer mentioning something about some confusion due to some new coverages put in.
