Who Was Romo Talking About With Galloway?...

"He's taken the approach that he's going to get healthy. When he does, he'll get back on the field. I assume, and I think he does, too, that he'll be fine come training camp."

"I think Terry Glenn's going to surprise a lot of you guys."

I think people have a tendency to point out Romo's second quote while failing to acknowledge the first one. Romo never said Glenn looked great etc. he only made comments about how dangerous Glenn was 2 years ago, that Glenn was rehabbing and he assumed he would be healthy come camp.

Dude, you flat out bellow. Well beyond opinion or prediction.

And where did HUGE come into play here? Did he say huge? Did Galloway say huge?

Please continue to embellish .....................someday you may start believing youself.

Oh boy, here comes big bad Seven acting all tough again. I swear, you are like that guy who buys a Camaro because he's deficient downstairs.

Here is what was said.

Romo: "I read that and I think you guys have that all wrong. There will be some things happen at receiver this season you guys are not expecting. These young receivers will emerge. Several of them, in fact.

(Does one of them stand out?) Yes, and I will tell you his name, but don’t print it. Just watch and see if I’m right."

He's talking about a player who didn't do all that much last year coming up big for the team. STAND OUT. You've got to make a major contribution to stand out. You've got to come up HUGE to do so. So you understand, I'll say it again. Anyone who thinks Stanback or Amondela is going to STAND OUT this year is on crack. We should be happy if either get to 10 catches and can be on the active roster every game.

Only one WR of that group is going to get the chance to see many balls and that is whoever come up as the #3. We threw a ton last year and our #3 WR for most of the year, Hurd was targeted only 37 times. Our #4, Austin was targeted only 10 times. The only player who is going to have an opportunity to get the ball is whoever emerges as #3 and there is no way Stanback or Amendola come out as #3.

I don't think that's how he meant it. "Emerge" in this case means which one will separate himself from the pack, not which one will make a huge (which he also didn't say) contribution to the team. It could just be emerging from nothing to contributing something. To me, Sam Hurd was that guy last year.

But he wasn't exactly a key to the team.

I love it when we're all together on a topic.

:laugh2:

I think he was talking about Hurd. He has been getting a ton of reps and the fact that Jerry told him specifically about Glenn being released indicates that he has high expectations for him, imo. I can't wait till Saturday for confirmation.:)

The fact of the matter is that he was wrong.

Glenn isn't 'surprising' anyone.

If anyone's 'surprised' at this point, it's Romo.

Surprised that Glenn never even made it to camp.

Romo said 'you guys are not expecting.' Everyone expects Austin and Hurd to step it up, so who else is left on the roster that is unexpected? People can disagree with your opinion and not be on crack.

I don't really think Hurd stood out -- in fact, at one point it seemed that Austin had taken his #3 reps. I believe there were several discussions on the board about that.

Exactly.

I think its Stanback.

Hes got all the tools and there has been guys who have made the transition from QB to WR in a shorter time than him.

Hes big, fast, strong, agile, smart, and works hard.

You put that in a blender and its gonna taste something like success.

I really don't think anyone can reasonably EXPECT Hurd (24 career catches) or Austin (5 career catches) to step it up.

Most teams would view a guy with those sort of career experiences over two years who stepped up as a huge and unexpected bonus.

Most receivers step it up in their third year. I don't see why a big jump by one of these two receivers would be unreasonable.

I sent him an email to at least give us a hint if it was a first year, second year or third year player.

Unreasonable that one will step up, no. But saying that Romo couldn't have been talking about either one because everyone EXPECTS them to step it up is silly.

So is calling anyone that thinks it could be Stanback or Amendola on crack.

Fine, folks who believe this aren't necessarily on crack. Other options exist. They could be stupid. They could lack football knowledge. Take your pick.

I can agree with that. I think it could be any one of five players - Hurd, Austin, Stanback, Amendola, or Felix Jones.

...or they could be right.
