Fine, folks who believe this aren't necessarily on crack. Other options exist. They could be stupid. They could lack football knowledge. Take your pick.

Please... Its not as far fetched as you think.

Stanback has been in the league 2 years. He missed most of last years training camp but he still got some time and he still had time to learn the playbook.

Hes a good enough athlete that if they can get the ball in his hands he can make a play.

Not every College QB who has been turned into a pro receiver took 4 or 5 years to develop.

Look at our own Patrick Crayton. He was showing signs of life in year 2.

It is far fetched to believe that Romo would suggest guys who he's got little or no game experience with

I can agree with that. I think it could be any one of five players - Hurd, Austin, Stanback, Amendola, or Felix Jones.

Hmmm, now Felix is a guy who I think we all expect to stand out

Why?

I dont see anyone saying its far fetched for Felix Jones to do something this year.

I dont think there is a rule that says if you dont have game experience you cant catch the ball and turn it into something.

Like I said earlier he is a smart football guy. Its only a matter of time before this guy starts contributing.

It may not be Stanback who Romo is talking about but that would be my guess.

There is no telling what could happen between tomorrow night and the kickoff against Cleveland.

Romo: "I read that and I think you guys have that all wrong. There will be some things happen at receiver this season you guys are not expecting. These young receivers will emerge. Several of them, in fact.

(Does one of them stand out?) Yes, and I will tell you his name, but don’t print it. Just watch and see if I’m right."

HE says several will emerge. Then follows it up with "one of them will stand out".

The #1 and #2 WR spots on this team are taken. He's talking about #3 WR spot. Hurd and Austin have been sharing the 3rd spot already, mostly Hurd. Romo could have mentioned either one of them with no negative affects on the others due to past pecking order.

So, it's probably Stanback, pratice squad guy form last year or a new WR.

Everyone has been saying Stanback has the physical tools, has he mastered the WR position yet? I've heard in camp he is "coming along". That doesn't sound like standing out.

Amendola and Jefferson are kinda unknowns.

From camp reports alone, the name heard the most is Amendola. It could be our D-backs haven't adjusted yet to his style of play. That short quick stuff is hard to defend. If Romo would have mention Amendola's name, then that might have a negative effect on the others.

If it was Felix, Romo would have said so due to Felix plays a different position. No WR slamming.

I think it's either Amendola or Stanback.

Big difference between saying that about a first round pick vs. an undrafted guy and a guy still making a transition to WR

for those of you who think it's Stanback

while he's looked really good, he's still inconsistent at catching the football and still forgets where he's supposed to be

In the passing game?

I think folks have been talking about the dimension Felix adds to our passing game a great deal.

Stanback has no problem catching the football. Infact that's one of his strong points, he goes out and gets it, More so then Austin and hurd.

He's only behind because His route running and step are not there yet.

Actually, there have been several reports that he has problems locating the ball over his shoulder...not a good thing for a wide receiver. He's been making big catches in space, but there have also been reports that he's had difficulty catching in traffic.

The point is, he still has things he needs to work on...as expected.

I don't know about that

and don't you think route-running and step is a pretty good reason for him to not step up this year? like you said, he's still learning about his feet placement because running being a QB is different from running being a WR
