Worst call in NFL history Face Mask

Ah the irony...

How often I read on this board about Joe Gibbs complaining about the refs.

In the past 3 hours, there have been countless threads and posts with identical sentiments. You guys can't have it both ways.

Another missed call - how about the trip on Randle El on the punt return? And Witten's blatant hold on the Glenn TD. The list goes on and on just like it does in EVERY NFL game. It's just part of how the game pans out.

it looked to me that SIngleton being swung down caused the trip, I didn't see any conscience effort on Singleton's part to trip him

yes, penalties are all a part of the game, but ones that decide a game are particularly troubling

I didn't hear Parcells complain, did you? What we think really dosent matter.
Gibbs going to the NFL over every loss, is a joke. Funny, but a joke.

I've started to watch the game again.

Missed calls on the first series in favor of Washington.

PI - Randal-El initiates contact on the play at least by the limited views that Fox offered us.

Third down pass to Betts. - No call was made but Cooley (#47) ran a pick on the play. Simple call with an official staring at it.

Dallas Safety - I've watched this play twenty times and have yet to see Jones down in the end zone. He clearly breaks the plane, rolling over Marshall.

The only reason Singleton stuck his leg out was because he was being HELD.

You might want to choose a play where your team didn't hold and sling down the so called offending player.

Typical of cowboy fans to blame the refs for losing.
Now lets take a look..

Here is the rule from NFL.Com:

5 Yard Penalty:

19. Grasping facemask of the ball carrier or quarterback.

15 Yard Penalty:

8. Twisting, turning, or pulling an opponent by the facemask.

:laugh2: how ironic coming from a Commander fan, half your guys' posts on ES are about the refs

no, that's typical Gibbs

mind you, not all of us are blaming this game on the refs, alot are blaming TO not catching that sure TD that would have effectively ended the game

It was blatant, everyone could see it.

It was pure stupidity by Kosier.

Game set match IMO. The rule (according to NFL.com) is twisting the head. If you debate that is the rule, then find a more reputable source. If not, debate whether his head was twisted by the face mask or he's just really interested in what Kosier is saying.

the picture makes it look alot worse than the live replay of the foul!

I'd like to see a gif of the actual foul in motion, cause it looked a whole lot less flagrant live than it does in that pic

maybe I was just pissed off watching the game

Seriously dude. That's a still frame picture. How do you even know his head was twisted by arm from a PICTURE? He barely has his fingertips in the mask. And you can barely even see that from the picture.

Look at the the tape. That's what tells you if it's a 5 yarder or a 15 yarder and all evidence says it was the former.

I've got the game (the whole game) on my comp as an avi. So i'll clip it and load it into youtube and we can look at it again. But I don't see how there's a debate about that, does anyone here think that he didn't twist taylor's head around? If not, show me a source that says you have to make a tackle in order for it to be a 15 yarder

no doubt his head was twisted, but it was because he was running away from it, Kosier didn't twist it, it was incidental

Please tell me your kidding, do you think Taylor was attempting to look behind him while still running forward???

he wasn't running forward, he was going east-west looking for a hole to break upfield, that caused the twist

Are you looking at the picture? His head is turned to the side in a position everyone an the planet makes probably 30 times a day. You can't tell anything from that picture, and if you put that evidence in a court of law, the prosecution or defense attorney would make mince meat of that evidence. I mean, you can't even tell if whoever it is, is even grabbing the facemask.

No, it wasn't incidental, his head was twisted. If his hand just ran across the facemask without closing his grip (as to cause the twisting), then its incidental. But if Taylor's head is twisted then he had to close his grip on the facemask making it a conscious effort to GRAB it and thus making it not incidental
