Fine but we won't be "breathing down Romo's neck all year long,".

Anyone with that skill set is starting for another team.

Exactly. I assure you there aren't many QBs in this league who could be "breathing down Romo's neck". We aren't going to get one.

There's really no chance of this. I promise you we can't afford a QB that can come in here and be "breathing down Romo's neck".

That's exactly what we need in my humbled peanut gallery opinion.

Eli vs. Marino

One won a SuperBowl and one didn't. Who's the better qb?

Marino was a wonderful quarterback. But think he'd trade all his personal glory for one Trophy?

This game is about team and not the individual. Individuals do make a difference.

But the question was Romo and Eli and your response was not empirical evidence that Romo is clearly better.

It's a bottom line career and Eli has the resume and Romo doesn't.

This isn't even close.

Um, Tarkenton, Marino and Fouts ARE three of the greatest of all time.

Yeah, but are they better than Montana, Bradshaw, & Aikman??

Before I will give up on Romo, I'd give up on the coordinator first. I'd like to see Romo under a guy like Norv (not Norv himself) but someone like him. Someone experienced and can take control of his QB and bring the best out of him, sort of Holmgren (sp?) type.

You put out a post like this, & you have the audacity to talk about illogic?
Are u serious???

Eli has won big games both in-season & postseason, not to mention the
Super Bowl.
Tony hasn't even won one playoff game. The last big game he had to win this year, he was horrible.
He's never come through when needed, regardless of the team behind him. I'd understand if he drove his team to the winning TD against the Giants last year, or something similiar. But, he's never come close.
Then to make your post even more ridiculous, you start spouting hypotheticals like; "If Tony & Eli switched teams", etc.
That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

If, if if, if ...........ya, that's a logical POV!:banghead:
Please, put the Romo koolaid down!

You have a very limited ability to grasp simple concepts, so I'll dumb this one down a bit.

I haven't proclaimed Romo to be our savior, so the cliche "koolaid" crap is absolutely not a factor here. All I'm saying is that Romo is better than Eli.

Eli Manning has not "won big games". The Giants have "won big games".

Tony Romo has not "lost big games". The Cowboys have "lost big games".

The "hypotheticals" as you refer to it, was an attempt to explain to you that there are "teams" involved in winning games. By giving both players identical teams, it would take out that variable. Apparently you didn't catch that.

I can't get any more basic than that. Good luck.

Did you even watch the playoff game last year. Romo was THE ONLY reason we even had a chance to win that game.

Sorry, but I may go ahead and discuss it anyway.

The point was made that Eli is a better qb than Romo BECAUSE he won the Super Bowl. That's foolish.

Eli may well be better than Romo but it won't be because of a a Super Bowl win. It will be because of how he plays the position. It is a discussion of who is the better player not who won the Super Bowl. Marino was a better qb than Eli can ever dream of being, Fouts too.

I figured an old school type would know this.

I guess Timmy Smith is a much better runningback than Barry Sanders, Ladanian Tonlinson, Eric Dickerson, OJ Simpson, Earl Campbell and hundreds more...

You know, my (Giants fan) boyfriend uses this logic all the time. It never fails to piss me off.

Yes, Eli has a ring. So does Brad Johnson. Is Brad Johnson a better QB than Tony Romo? Having a SB ring =/= Great QB

You're easily pissed off then..like I said when Tony actually does something with the opportunities he's been given I'll start believing in him.

Till then it's just the same old thing for me. I desperately want the guy to succeed. If he doesn't the Cowboys don't for the most part.

I'm just tired of the same ole crap from him.

His post game interview is what did it for me. I hope I'm wrong.

Eli certainly did not step up today did he?
Prior to last year he did not step up did he?
SO for one stretch of, what, 6-8 games he stepped up.
And on that you base his whole career?

His career isn't over and neither is Romo's, but right now Eli is better because he has a championship ring and a superbowl mvp title, yes.

Why is that so difficult for people to understand? You play this game for chamionships.

You want to argue over who is the better play maker? That's a completely different conversation.

It's not an insult to Romo, it just means Romo has work to do.

Because some people have convinced themselves that stats are everything. Revenge of the rotisserie geeks. Even Marino admitted that he'd trade all his passing records for a ring.

Nope, not about stats at all. It's about ability.
