If Zeke continues to produce at this level throughout his rookie contract it will justify the pick. I wasn't enamored with idea of taking RB at that spot but given the uncertain nature of ALL picks I will take that any day.

Still confused regarding this team's philosophy on backs though: let Murray walk, no RBs that draft, and now Zeke early first.

Well, what special talent was there at pick #4 ?
Besides of Wentz, who went #2, I can see nobody doing smth special right now. Zeke is getting close and he will get there.
That 135th pick is looking alright. Honestly Dak's success makes any complaints about the 16 draft class moot.

Forget the multiple special and tough runs he made.

The pass protection is superb.

And his incredible receiving skills aren't even tapped yet.

Still not worth the 4th pick IMO.

He's a fine player but I think there was more value in that pick than taking a RB when we had numerous holes on defense. Even a trade would have been a better move IMO.
For what? I don't think that guy Floyd made one play last night against free and green

I think you answered your own question....our Offense never ran better than 2014 with Murray......our FO balked at paying him and we went with a RBBC with Randle and DMC....it wasn't a complete disaster but it was a huge step back......they wanted to give Romo the RB that made him an MVP, that was EE

McFadden could've done just as well last night.

Not impressed.

McFadden would have to actually be healthy enough to play for that to even be a possibility.

By the way, through 3 games Zeke is 20 yards ahead of Dickerson's rookie rushing record pace.

These types of threads are not flattering to Zeke. He's tied for 2nd in rushing but has the 3rd most carries. He's averaging under 4 yards per carry. The guy ahead of him was undrafted. The guy he's tied with was undrafted. The guy 4 yards behind him went in the 4th round. All three guys combined make less than Zeke. And that's before you factor in we took Zeke 4th and he has the best line and skill positions around him of all of the rbs in the NFL.

Zeke is a player that makes the defense better...much much better. Imagine that defense on the field about 50% more. A defensive rookie would make a better impact?

I dont think so. Furthermore, 2015 happened because they thought "any" RB could be successful.

2015 happened because we thought any RB could be successful? Really this is a thought you have?

Zeke making the defense better argument is still alive? Let me ask you a question. What was the difference in TOP for the Cowboys in 2014 vs. 2015? You may be surprised.

...and not that far behind Blount for first overall (298 v. 274). Good stuff from the rook.

i loved it.

still would have liked for morris to have taken the snaps on the last drive or two, though. game was won.

He is averaging too many carries right now...23 per game. Maybe it's just early in the season and they want him to get reps since he didn't have much of a preseason. As the year goes on though, I'd like to see that decrease to averaging about 18 per game, which tends to be more of the average for a starting RB. Keep those legs fresh for December. Would have liked to have seen Morris get those late 4th quarter garbage time carries.

While I agree with your assessment that the Cowboys were never in any real danger of losing last night- I do disagree that the carries down the stretch were "garbage time". The Bears were only two scores down and anything can happen.

This year, it is 34:57, second in the league. Are you so blinded by your position that you don't think Zeke has had an effect on that? And the time-difference was pretty significant between the two years -- 32:13 in 2014 v. 31.07 in 2015. Really not sure of the point you are trying to make -- a solid running game as a big impact on TOP, which in turn can significantly impact the effectiveness of a defense. To argue otherwise is silly.

So a difference of 60 seconds was why we dropped from a 12 win season in 2014 to top 4 pick in 2015?

If anything it's a testament to our ability to run with "any" rb that we held the ball that long with no significant qb threat for most of the season.

60 seconds. And in 2014 we had one of the most prolific running back seasons of all time. This year to date... we don't have a particular prolific running game. We're just playing slowly. Something we don't need Zeke for.

I think Dallas isn't interested in paying players for what they have done anymore.

That is why Murray in his late 20's walked and Ware in his 30's walked.

Also, both guys were getting injured often.

This board has gone full stupid this year.

The Cowboys just ran over another team on their way to 2-1. Enjoy it while you can because it doesn't get any easier then last night.

Just be happy we have two young studs that are only going to get better as time goes on.

I never said TOP was the reason did terribly in 2015. There were other, obvious reasons for that. And yes, 60 seconds per game is huge -- that's an extra half of football over a season, and the difference between top 5 in the NFL and middle of the pack in the category.

By the way, last year was an anomaly on multiple levels. In 2013, our TOP was 29:00.

"Ramsey has played crappy"

One is adjusting to corner in the NFL (Made a play yesterday that should have won the game), the other is an RB. Completely different transitions and I'd still take Ramsey over Zeke if we could rewind.

Player with the potential to become a great corner > Player with potential to become a great RB.

It's not about that.. It's about the standard that we should expect.

People are acting like Morris couldn't have done the same or better with 30 carries.

Where are the big electric plays?
Electric plays?
Is the season over?

Glad you disagreed, while agreeing what we did last night wasn't impressive.
