This is after he had already made the decision not to do the right thing. What do you think people are going to respect more?

And that "you're innocent" part, I do not buy that. Have you asked yourself why were these two guys shooting at the guy that just had a fight with Joseph? And he doesn't know anything about it?

I am speaking to you called him a snitch. If you were in that situation would you eat the charge? Assuming you were innocent.

I don't think you would.

I don't care what people think as much as I care about what actually happened.

Your thinking is if @CouchCoach called him a snitch it was cruel. No it was ironic, old fellow, ironic because our bench rider corner seemingly aspired to the thug life credo, He was a star in his fantasy gangsta video and in the light of day a young man is dead.
Bossman Fat, whether he did or did not pull the trigger, was an accessory, co-conspirator and concealed evidence for a month. By tha I mean he didn't lead police to the weapon for a month. I know the law like Barnaby Jones.
Remember, Fear da Bossman Fat Vibe.

That is trying to find an avenue to punish him. You're wrong btw. He ha to actually be convicted under the Tagliabue era conduct detrimental standard.

I'm not wrong. Goodell has the power. Also look at the standard wording in the Cowboys contracts. I'm not trying to punish him. I'm concerned about the culture and health of the team. If an individual is a threat to that, I want them gone. It's that simple.

I think you're so busy trying to defend him that you're assigning intent that isn't there.

So should the Cowboy shave a zero tolerance policy? You get suspended for any reason and miss a game, you are deemed unreliable and immediately cut?

I think it depends on the nature of what was done. A man was murdered. He at the very least knew his friends shot at the guy. But never mind that. He can maybe help the team. Let him play! That's how you guys come across.

People arent defending him, they just dont follow your moral outrage that he's a cancer and influencer on the rest of the roster and his penalty should reflect potential 'health of the team'. He should be proportionately punished for his part in the murder (severity of that punishment isnt yours or mine to dictate), his position within the roster should be dictated by those within the roster the same way his position in society is determined by the law and his position in NFL is determined by Goodell.

At some point this "Father figure / Babysitting atmosphere has to end. Jerry needs to close the rehab center and put the team first. How many more ignorant players are we going to nurse back that we don't get a return on? To me it's simple. Jerry Jones needs to stop gambling on these potentials and cut them loose. The Pacman Jones kinds of character need not even be considered. Or, how about Josh Brent who killed a guy? Now we have another player who isn't serious another for the NFL. Just stop it.

He thinks he's fostering loyalty. Randy Gregory showed him all about that loyalty.

Maybe the culture can be affected by players seeing other players doing things that threaten their availability to play. If you set a double standard based on draft pedigree, you basically let players know that if you are fairly highly drafted or have talent then you get almost unlimited chances to figure it out.

No one even knows the entire story of his pre-draft character concerns (though I imagine some journalists know a bunch more than has ever been reported likely due to hard evidence). From all indications, the guy had first round talent, but heavy character questions regarding his future football career. Just cut him and wish him well with the next organization.

Let the players on your roster know that your availability to play on Sundays can be affected by personal choices when away from the squad. The end.

You could be right, but it seems very unlikely that they've been sitting on this for weeks, and just now arrest the guys and declare Joseph a person of interest. I don't know when the video first came out, but I'm guessing someone recognized him, and that's the only reason he's talking to the police.

You've had a nice series of common sense posts. Can't say I disagree with anything you have shared. Well done in my humble opinion.

His pre-draft behaviour reflected his 2nd Rd grade. If his behaviour is a liability then ball all means cut him. But either way its not about setting a culture, its about personal behaviour.
It's the sanctimonious pre-judgement on perceived cultural effects that's at this moment an overreaction and not yet justified.

He already has demonstrated that his behavior (personal choices) can negatively affect his availability. You can bet on at least 6 games via exempt list or straight suspension.

I don't know if Jerry plans to have to babysit, or if he just gives benefit of the doubt that these guys will grow up on their own, once they're responsible for their own lives. By then, he has too much invested to let them go.

Or maybe he just wants to be the mama bird.

But history seems to indicate that he's a wildcatter, who lives for getting lucky and striking oil.

I agree on principle but the fact of the matter is that the ever growing crop of players are and will be problem children so assembling a team of adults is almost impossible.

the lesson to our FO is to give one strike and done instead of experiments like Randy Gregory. I don’t envy any current GMs job and the NBA is even worse. The lunatics are running the asylum.

I would buy into that frame of thinking if it paid off. He has the same loyalty to players that are a risk due to injury. We get a bargain with a bunch of baggage. It's a bad way to build a roster as we have noticed since the salary cap came to be.
