Laufenberg concerned about Romo's back

Last night, Babe Laufenberg, who is president of the Tony Romo fan club, said that Romo does not look good thus far.

Worse, he said he looks hurt, like he's compensating for his back. He reminded viewers that it was back issues that took Troy Aikman out of the game, not concussions. Back issues ended Jay Novacek's career prematurely, as well as Charles Haley. It is probably the worst thing a player can get because once you have it, it usually never goes away. Look what it did to Larry Bird.

Laufenberg said Romo's throws are all over the place, and for a QB that is known for accuracy and pocket mobility, this could be a problem.

Simply put, without Romo, the season would be over. Thisback issue has to resolve or it's church.

I wish the team would come out with the truth on Romo's surgery. It quite obviously wasn't just a cyst removal.

And playing him against the Dolphins would be stupid. In fact, they might consider holding him for the entire preseason, other than a quarter or two.

most back issues are due to spinal issues and disks. but I thought Romo's back surgery didn't have anything to do with spinal issues but with a cyst being removed......he may feel discomfort, but I am surprised Babe would think its career threatining.

Time will tell. If it was a cyst, he won't have ANY problems with his back during the season. If he starts having back problems, and believe me you will be able to see it all over him, then we will know the entire cyst thing was BS. Let's wait until then to debate it...

There's no need to wait. The difference between back surgery on a disc and removing a cyst is astonomical. Some of you people will believe anything someone puts out there. I see it all the time when some bonehead on ESPN says something negative about a Cowboys player, it's all over this forum from the usual culprits as fact. Sorry, but this just annoys the hell outta me.

Amen.

Lol this is too funny, do people actually take what these media guys say with more than a grain of salt? If "Romo does not look good thus far", then man am I excited! I can't wait to see how he'll play when he's actually playing "good", because when I seen him on the live scrimmage Romo looked very sharp. I think most can agree when I say Romo is the least of our worries heading into this season, even with his so called "disc surgery".

When you want a good chuckle, just tune into one of these "football" media guys. Man are they hilarious with the stuff they come up with! :D

Someone should put the alcohol down...

Romo has looked sharp

I live in DFW and listen to all 3 sport talk radio stations all day Monday thru Friday. I've heard multiple show hosts make fun of Laufenberg and point out some of the "look at me" things that he says.

He is probably more popular than the sports guys on other TV stations, but that's a really low bar of achievement.

I also listen to everything and this is the only report I've heard regarding this. You know this would be all over ESPN, NFLN and DFW all day, every day if this was the case. Kinda suspect when you break it all down.

Let's not pile on the OP too much here. He's just repeating what Babe said.

Well I saw the scrimmage yesterday on dallascowboys.com and he looked great, I don´t know where he is getting that from.

He was repeating Babe, at first. Then the OP added fuel to the fire by posting a bunch of misinformation and speculation. So some of the pile being flung at him is his own fault.

Word is starting to come out that this was disc surgery, not a cyst removal alone.

Pure speculation. Stuff like this doesn't "leak out", because if it comes from anyone besides Romo or anyone he's expressly permitted to discuss his health situation, it would be a HIPPA violation. Whoever was guilty of the violation would be be subjected to a lawsuit and perhaps other forms of litigation.

I don’t know if what Babe is saying is true or not but i don’t think you should just brush it aside without looking into it. All accounts i have read have been that Romo has looked sharp. I have watched the videos online and he looks good to me. On the flip side, Witten did say something that i found a little odd. He said the last two days Romo has looked like his old self. What did he look like before that? A lot of the passes have been short. He hasn’t scrambled much if at all. In the final 4 plays of the scrimmage Romo was sacked 3 times.

I'm personally not brushing aside what Babe has said, but until it's substantiated by another reporter, then I'm going and I think everyone should look at it with a grain of salt...and then acknowledge Babe was right if it turns out he was...

And other than the usual rust, which was reported, haven't seen much negative about Romo's recovery.

If Romo isn't sharp right now than what is the heck wrong with Kyle Orton? Did he have back surgery also?

The OP did a lot more than that. He threw a bunch of garbage out there. If someone is going to start threads with complete rumors, innuendo and made up stuff, even suggesting the franchise QBs career may be in jeopardy, then they are inviting scrutiny. The OP should write for the National Enquirer with garbage like this. I take that back the Enquirer at least occasionally throws some truth in. And notice the OP went into hiding when asked repeatedly for backup of his "people are saying" and "it's obvious Romo is hurt worse" drivel.

The OP is the one making CZ a sewer today

Babe is protecting either Romo Garrett or both if need be. In the case Cowboys dont start well he will throw out l ittle prize. "See guys..I told you Romo wasnt himself." That the only thing I can think of

The same place of "some say" and "people are saying". Those folk are elusive are hard to catch up with.

Ma'am, it's being speculated all over the DFW media that there was more to this than just a cyst. It's not my assumption, because I have no idea, but it's been discussed on The Ticket, ESPN, and The Fan. I've heard Babe say it, Norm Hitzges suggest it, as well as Galloway, and several others.

They aren't reporting it, per se, but they are pointing out the fact that no one seems to want to discuss it around the Cowboys, including Romo.

Babe just said Romo was throwing like he was favoring his back, and wondered if the issue was more than just a cyst.

And keep in mind, Babe spends time at Garrett's house. They are very close friends and have been for a long time.
