to give up Henry for Beck for a couple of reasons:

1) Even off the bench, Henry would provide depth for a very important position that, right now, looks deep. However, if Newman goes down again, and only a fool would gurantee that the won't, then all of the sudden that position doesn't look as deep.

2) I'm afraid that we do end up with Beck, Jerrah and the front office would call it a day when it comes to the QB position. I want this team to draft a QB this year. There are a few guys out there that, if developed properly, could not only provide some security long term, but could bring back some valuable draft picks.
Backup depth at QB is not important? Did you see the games Brad Johnson started?

Any reason at all to believe Beck would be better as a fill in than Johnson or Bollinger right now?

I do think the backup needs to be a real NFL caliber QB and my issue with Beck is that he isn't proven to be. Beck was a system guy at BYU with questionable arm strength.

I would not trade a starting NFL CB for a backup QB though. And while Henry is no longer a starter for us he is probably going to start somewhere as there is a huge shortage of players at the position. See Jacque Reeves as an example of that.

Beck's only had a bit of playing time but he was plainly awful. QB rating of 62 with more fumbles than TD passes. He passed for just at 110 yards per game. Yikes! The longest pass he completed in 5 games was 22 yards.

henry would be just a nickle safety if he moved to that position. we already have a safety who cannot tackle, do you want two that cant tackle?

Yeah, he's not 80 years old like Brad Johnson.

He was "awful" with a 1-15 team. Brady would have been "awful" with that mob.

Let's just say when Jerry gets drunk he calls certain numbers that charge by the minute and talks with someone named Hostella.
What a coincidence. I do that too!

Chances are if we lose Romo again next year, Beck wouldn't be much better than Brad was but if we lose Newman, at least Henry has experience.

I don't know that Beck has done anything to deserve all the faith you're willing to put in him. He was outplayed by Cleo Lemon on that crappy Dolphins team.

Beck was supposed to be a 3 - 5th round pick, the fact that he got drafted early doesn't mean he's good.

Cleo Lemons passed for almost twice as many yards per game with the same team and had 6 TD passes to Beck's 1.

If Cleo Lemons could vastly outperform Beck something tells me Brady just might have been a tad better.

But even more the guy was demoted from heir apparent to 3rd string under BP. Sounds like what BP did to Chutch to me.

I have to wonder if he has it in him to be a good player. I remember seeing a video of him singing .....ahhhhh I'm a loser baby.
Yeah, that's definitely where it's at!

I really want to draft a guy, but I have a feeling that Jerry is going to draft a guy from Texas Tech that has inflated stats. So I guess I'd rather have Beck, whom isn't better than Chad Henne?

I wonder if VinnY T can still squat half a ton.

I simply don't agree with that at all.

Cleo Lemons has a 1 year head start on Beck in the NFL.

I'll bet you 5 bucks that barring career ending injury to either player Beck has a longer career and it is more productive as well.

He's done it before at the college level. If he can't, McBriar can. I still hope for Crayton or Stanback myself so that we have options on fakes. They played QB and can both really run with the ball.

If he can't he shouldn't be here. possibly wasting a roster spot for a holder is a joke. are we the only team that can't find a decent backup qb who can hold?
