Cowboys Waiver/Practice Squad Tracker: Players Claimed by Dallas

Nope, but yours is.

Dude, whether it was complaining about keeping too many DEs who were not good enough, or too few, you knew they were going to complain. Until cynicism stops being easy, it'll happen. We just have to power over it without letting it stick to our shoes.

On a side note, Jake Brendel made the roster without getting noticed much by the talking heads. It's interesting to me how often that happens.

Ok, thought I would just throw this out there for you guys to engulf and devour. ;)

Ben Gardner is available and he got 2 sacks and 10 tackles this preseason. Obviously, his shoulder is fully healed now. He's never played in a regular season game, but in his 5 preseason games he's notched 3 sacks and 13 tackles. I know no biggie, but Ryan Russell has like 2 sacks (from last year) and 16 tackles in his preseason games, and we just put him on the PS. No, I don't know how many pressures either have during preseason. Just sayin Gardner already knows the system and we are looking for guys that can actually finish and bring down the QB yes?

I noticed he got tossed.

I want to say that Dallas didn't seem to show any interest in re-signing Gardner to the Practice Squad following his release last year.

Yeah, I'm 96.5% sure it is because he sucks.

Interesting that Showers is drawing attention from other teams. Personally I would have liked to see how he might have fared with the same cast of players Dak had this preseason.

It'd be interesting if another team claims Jameill Showers and puts him on their 53.

Once Showers passes through waivers, he'll become a free agent with the option to sign on to any Practice Squad he desires (provided the team is interested).

Showers will have to decide if his best chance lies in remaining with the Dallas Cowboys or joining a new team.

That's going to be a tough call for Showers to make. He would have a chance next year because Sanchez is just a band-aid. But by all accounts it looks like Dak is the future here and the Cowboys are going to be in no rush (right or wrong) to put Tony Romo out to pasture.

Maybe a new team is Showers' best hope for a pro career.

Sounds like other practice squads. Long term Dak is the only one in his way with the Cowboys. So if he leaves it better be for a team that doesn't have a good qb situation or can promise him some reps (which is unlikely on the practice squad)

That should be an interesting decision. Clearly Sanchez is short term, but he's got to look at Romo and Dak and wonder about his chances to start - ever. But there are a lot worse things to be than a backup QB in the NFL.

If J. Showers were to sign with another team (53 player or practice squad) it puts Dallas in a bind. It will take M. Sanchez some time to learn the offense. Romo essentially is 3rd qb since he is not going on IR apparently. (Hopefully, Dak does not get hurt)

Now there is another little aftershock of players being cut for waiver additions:

Cincinnati - LB Paul Dawson
San Diego - CB Steve Williams
New York Giants - DT Montori Hughes

Probably not interested in any one of these either. Just too cool for school.
lol i was told by many here that paul dawson was gonna be special and shaq thompson was trash. what happened? lol

But if Showers was practice squad it's not as if he'd be the third QB anyway.

If the Cowboys can't get Showers or another QB on the practice squad, Sanchez is in for a lot of reps. Which isn't a bad thing, he'll need them.
