Cowherd: "It's ridiculous to expect Dak to get over the hump, as it would be for Kirk Cousins."

I hear you

I don't know if either can, but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Fwiw...In 2021, the Vikings won a road playoff game with Cousins then lost at San Francisco--when he had a very Dak-like game in the loss with a 1 TD and 1 turnover.

Last year they lost a playoff game but he had 2 TDs, 0 Ints, 273 yards, and a 113 QB rating
Cousins is 1-4 in the playoffs…..and lost to a Daniel Jones led Giants team….Cousins had good stats but he nutted up in the clutch.

He and Dak are nothing alike regardless of what stats say. He’s probably close to Deshaun Watson too and he sure as hell ain’t nowhere good as him.

LOL...that was brilliant! You avoided having to answer the question. My compliments!

SO it will be the QB when it's convenient for you, and the team when THAT is convenient. Cool....got it.,
I don't like the way you keep backing Mamathon into corners.
He has feelings too. He gets up at the shelter every morning just like I. He puts his lingerie on one foot at a time must like America's Cuteboy.
Give him a chance. He's drooled all his drool for Dak and tha is something to respect --- craven love for Dak.

So, leave Mamathon alone!
His bottom lip is already trembling and you know what tha means, huh?

I like Dak and I dont expect him to do it all by himself.

But he played like trash in the 49'rs game last year ........ he just cant do that and us have any chance of winning ......
I mean it goes without saying. I personally don’t think Dak is as bad as he showed in that game. If he is then yeah we will have the same results this year. One and done.

I think both Cousins and Prescott are good examples of how hard it is to win a Super Bowl. Cousins has had years where he wasn't the problem for his team. From 2019 to 2021, he had ratings over 100. He had a 100-plus rating with Washington, where he almost completed 70 percent of his passes. In the 2022 playoffs, Cousins was 21-29 (79.5 percent) with two TD passes and no turnovers. Was it his fault his defense gave up 31 points?

Not saying either would have ever become Tom Brady, but would Brady have been as successful if he'd ended up somewhere other than New England? He still would have been a great QB no doubt, but he might not have the hardware to show for it.

Huh? Cousins and Romo played at the same time lol…granted, he was older but let’s not act like Romo wasn’t around when Cousins was.
Cousins became a full time starter in 2015 but started some games in 2014 (still going in 2023)
Romo became a starter in mid 2006 (last year to start full time was 2014 or part of 2015)

yeah, there was a tiny bit of overlap, but not much

The time/era-adjustments between Cousins and Dak would be very small...with Cousins getting a tiny bump
but between either of them and Romo, it'd be noticeable.

Not sure how Romo entered this convo though....as the topic was Dak and Kurt

Who knows but Bill Belichick hasn't done anything without Brady. He was mediocre in Cleveland and he's been mediocre since Brady left the Patriots.

Giants will not be an easy out imo. They are building something there unfortunately with their new coach.
I agree. We also don't know what teams might emerge better than expected. What's Barkley doing? Last I heard, he has issues. They need him to be all in.

Romo entered this conversation because he has similar stats to Kirk Cousins as well….

Romos stats in 2015 were terrible.

Time-adjusted (QB ratings and overall numbers have been rising steadily) Romo has better stats than both.....just as Staubach has better-adjusted stats than Romo

2022 adjusted ratings
Staubach 106.4
Romo 101.7
Prescott 98.2
Roger has 13 total playoff wins. Not a good comparison.

Oh, I know, just showing that Roger's career 83 passer rating doesn't remotely relate to 2022. It adjusts way to a 106 in present day.
That post was addressing folks comparing passer ratings (and all QB stats) from different times and how ratings have been rising for decades, not about who is better than who.

Baloney.

Brady had the best Defense in the NFL during his early SB wins. His Offense wasn't bad either. Plus, he had arguably the best coaches in the league as well. Same thing when he won his last SB with Tampa Bay. That team was loaded both on Offense and Defense.

Same goes for Mahomes. Loaded Offense and top 10 Defense, plus some of the best coaches in the NFL.
Mahomes just won a SB with a 7th round rookie RB and Juju as his #1 WR. The Chiefs defense allowed the most passing TDs in the NFL. They were 16th in points allowed while the Cowboys were 6th.

The only advantages Mahomes had were Travis Kelce and Andy Reid. Yet he won another ring and we got another year of excuses for Dak flopping in the divisional round. What will be the excuse this season?

The same way Dak enters the convo in many non-Dak threads including the "I love Tony Romo" thread that the mods had to delete because the Dak haters came out in full force.

@TheMarathonContinues ask you a very valid question that you haven't answered yet. Let us know how you adjusted Romo's stats to make him look better and to make it more even with Dak's. Maybe one day we can do the same for Dak if he can't win the big game like Romo couldn't.

True. That's why it's a combination of multiple factors. Plenty of head coaches have not succeeded (Super Bowl-wise) without the right quarterback. Look at Landry after Staubach left. Plenty of quarterbacks have not succeeded without the right head coach. Matthew Stafford is a good example of that. Peyton Manning without Dungy or without Denver's "No Fly Defense," which is another of those factors.

Fans and commentators want to be able to boil it down to one thing, but that rarely ever gives an accurate picture.

I'm not saying that Cousins or Dak would be the right QB in any situation, just that we don't know that. If Stafford can get a ring after all these years, then I think there are several QBs in the upper half of the league who can, too. There are even some in the lower half of the league, like Dilfer was, who can if other things about the team are elite/dominant.

Boy I bet you're hoping and praying that happens, huh.

I can see why the post of someone wanting Dak to die was left up.
