You just cannot have a good offense or a consistent offense without a quality Oline. Never seen an Oline go this bad this quickly.

CowboyRoy the Dak Excuse King of these forums......no offline...no Wr....no Te....no def....Smith is old...Zeke is fat...the coaching sucks.....Libra is in Sagittarius.....yada yada yada yada....hey CowboyRoy your man Dak STINKS!

You can't expect everybody's gonna be like Sean Lee. Many players will be hesitant to help groom their backups - thus contributing to their own sunset. Just saying.

According to the crew on The Ticket postgame show, Romo NEVER was a help to Dak. They said that was a myth. He didn't want to help the guy who could take his job. They said Witten was the same way. The guys on The Break said it also.
Yes, I saw both shows where they said as much. Pretty much the opposite of what has been said the last two years in this forum. Who does one believe?

I tend to believe that he was a help because Dak said he was and we actually watched them going over stuff on the sidelines multiple times during Dak's rookie year.

This is false and was contradicted by statements Dak himself made. You also see Romo going over things with Dak live during the season.

And no way in hell did Witten not help. Don’t believe it for a second.

Yeah this is absolutely false. Dak was coached more by Sanchez, Romo and Witten more so than Garrett and Linehan. In fact, they took Dak's college plays and just implemented it into their offense. They should just do that rather than force this inept style of offense down Dak's throat.

I heard that, too. But then I remember footage of him on the sidelines in games helping Dak with plays and talking to him about how the defense was going to adjust on the next series. I think he probably helped some, but didn’t make a point of babysitting him in meetings. Which makes sense since Romo was the starter before he was hurt and that’s not really his job.

It’s nit true that Garrett and Linehan and Wilson didn’t coach Dak either. Where in the world did you get that nonsense from?

There's no difference. It's just the NFL knows him now and the people who thought he was great his rookie year didn't have a clue of what they were talking about.

He was limited his 1st year, his 2nd and now 3rd. He'll be limited in year 4 and beyond.

If only the Cowboys had a real GM. (GMs don't matter, they just have to listen.)
But its too bad he just wins football games...and the Eagles have been using the wrong QB the whole time!

So his rookie year Dak looked like we had found magic.
Now he shouldn't be playing in the NFL.
Go back and watch film of Daks rookie season. The CBs were all playing 5 yards off the WRs and Dak was playing pitch and catch underneath with Beasley. Defenses were looking at Dak and thought big dude must have a big arm and we dont want to give up any big plays. The following season is when teams said lets play man to man or just move up and play a tight zone coverage and see if he can beat us over the top. BINGO! Dak couldnt do it and he still cant do it! Zeke is the engine that drives this team. Without Zeke this offense would be the absolute worst in the league.

the biggest problem is when they gave dak control of the offense. He did better when he lined up and ran the play. He's slow on reads, panic when pressured so simplify it. Give him a play and run it, he's no manning, brady, brees. He's a slow reader with limited throwing abiltiy. shesh, this is all garretts fault for thinking he's more than what he is. His first year success was due to running the play and limiting his risks.

No he is too scarred or just doesn't see them open downfield and chooses the easier checkdown. Right now he's playing just too safe, he needs to find the balance that works for him but right now he's holding the offense back.

Sees plenty. He is doing the right thing by being conservative. Unless he needs to do more like against the Eagles. Most 3rd year QB's are bus drivers that need to work on things.

Do you get any enjoyment out of making the playoffs or winning games these days?

I think you are mostly correct. If the OLine were to return to its top form, the offense would look better. But I believe that Dak still has some fundamental problems that cannot be fixed. I see it every week. And every week I hear it from football guys. Just this week...Aikman, Bradshaw, Jimmy J, Steve Smith Sr, Baldy, MJD and Kurt Warner. If all of these guys are dead wrong, that would be amazing.

I don't think they are wrong. A lot of these guys also say they like Dak he is a good young QB.

You don't get to pick your QB as fans. Its not fantasy football. I don't see a better QB on this team. So what you do is you develop the guy that you have. For Dak, the ONLY way he can be a top level QB is to have a great Oline in front of him. So that's what you do. That same great Oline would also benefit Zeke and any other QB you put under center. If Dak can play like he did in 2016 that's all we need.

LOL...….Hes our man. Unless you are going to root for another team. Looks like you are going to be a troll for a long time. What will you do when he resigns? Troll some more?

For now I can revel in the fact that the young kid has led us to 2 playoff appearances in 3 years.

Now back to your trolling.

Just sad, I think more people wouldn't complain so much about Dak if it wasn't for the homers who blow everything up. Ever game won is because him and ever problem on the team is somebody else fault. The offensive line, the scheme, the qb coach, the oc, the hc, the wr's the te's, the defense not shutting the other teams out. The guy has heart but not enough skills.

Maybe you missed the Saints game where Dak was the winning QB.

The Jags game where the Cowboys scored 40 points.

The Skins game where the Cowboys scored 31 points.

The Cowboys leading the division as of a week ago.

Dak's only real issue is that he is more dependent on a performance by the OL as compared to Romo who could freelance when the OL struggled.

In 2016 Ron Leary was the LG. Tyron, Martin and Frederick were health. The great but highly underrated Jermey Parnell played much of that season and the playoff games at RT.

In 2018 Frederick is out. Tyron has a neck/shoulder issue, an elbow issue and a back issue. Martin has been playing with a knee injury that Garrett says would keep most players off the field. Connor Williams is a rookie that everyone knew would need a year to get up to NFL weight/strength. Sua-Filo was cut by the Texans and added during the season. Adam Redmond played in the Indy game and he was practice squad player from the Bills. Joe Looney is a low paid backup that has started all games at Center. La'el is a Guard playing RT. The best blocking TE is Swaim and he has been out for several games.

Aikman had a similar issue. He was not good when the OL was not good; however, when it was good he won 3 Super Bowls. He was not a freelance type QB like Romo.

You make excellent points and it's true our OL has had its problems this year. The one big difference is that Aikman could hit his receivers and Dak cannot. He holds the ball and panics under pressure.

Let's see

1. No Travis Fredrick
2. A hurt and limited Tyron Smith
3. A hurt Zack Martin
4. No Jason Witten

Yea he's playing with less.

Most QB's have to play with less at this time of year. Injuries happen in the NFL. SB teams find ways to overcome injuries.

Most of the same zoners who fell in love with Quincy Carter have fallen in love with Dak. Over the next 10 years, we will still be wishing and hoping for another SB. Jerry might be long gone by then...

When Aikman had a bad Oline he couldn't hit anyone. He also had Irvin, Novakec, Harper, Jimmy Johnson and Norv Turner surrounding him. Dak has what exactly? Cooper?

LOL.....This is NOT a SB team. Not even close. That is the point. Most good teams have great coaching, which we do not.

Not sure why some of you fail to grasp why this offense is soo bad.

1. 3rd year QB with bad coaching, bad scheme, pocket presence issues
2. Injury ravaged Oline that is 2nd worst in the NFL in pass blocking
3. Rookie starting receiver and TE rest of TE's are 3rd stringers

Only way to mask these deficiencies is to have a great Oline. This way the QB can stand in a clean pocket, the scheme and coaching isn't as big a problem, and Zeke can just run wild against almost anyone.
