I don’t see how Deuce doesn’t get RB2 touches over Rico or whomever is the other.
He’s too electric and gives you similar pop as Pollard. Plus, the defenders can’t locate him until it’s too late.
I had Davis as a pet cat this year, but he was lousy in all facets of RB last Saturday. Rico fumbled, and that is about the worst thing you can do as a RB. Deuce made plays and looked like a threat to score on any given touch from anywhere on the field. He should already be second string.

“just like he will now”? I don’t think the talent level on Big 12 defenses is similar to the NFL.
It may not be up to the level of the NFL but what college team is oh wait he did run over Alabama did they not have any big dudes on defense I mean I get what you're saying but the man is overcome this criticism in high school he overcame it in Big 12 which is not St. Mary's Division Three this is a real power conference and he did it in a manner in which he's only the third player in his school's history at Kansas State they had 5000 scrimmage yards in fact he has more receiving yards than all the other players at his position that were drafted this year so it's not like he hasn't done it and against solid competition I mean he room TCU's chance to win the Big 12 he was the MVP of the Big 12 conference championship I mean he's on a team playing in a championship game and ruining an undefeated teams game.

I get we're only gonna see a smaller sample size of deuce Vaughn against the NFL caliber but what did Tony Pollard do in college a whole lot less then do spawn did and he did it in a bigger conference I mean you gotta think about that we're seeing Tony Pollard adjust to the NFL they brought him along slowly and I know that they're not the same size but I'm telling you the deuce vaughn's already more NFL ready than Tony Pollard was he literally touted the rock as the number one running back for his team and did nothing but excel.. Of course my expectations are lower in the NFL from this guy but we're talking about him in a running back by committee rotation versus being the guy that would be a step back from college but that doesn't mean he won't produce in that's cowboy fans why would we not hope that he has a great career even in a smaller capacity? Very similar to Darren Sproles who was very good role player did great things just never was the guy but he made an impact we just need a small impact at running back 2

I doubt he will have much of a blocking role. Can't see him being the tailback on passing situations. Both he and Dak will suffer for that.
According to McCarthy our backs will have a bigger role blocking this season. If that’s the case Vaughn won’t be getting a lot of snaps at RB unless he’s an effective blocker at his size.

How do you think he looked Saturday? He busted off the biggest run of the day and went for 50+ yards on 8 carries. That is a pretty good indicator that he just might have the skills to play in this league.

When it comes down to one final play in the playoffs he will line up at center.

And you will consider yourself schooled.
What's his position flex? Can he play Guard and Center? I need my guys to be able to fill multiple spots.

It looks like Deuce Vaughn is going to get a lot of touches this weekend. Here is what is in a DallasCowboys.com article today about Wednesday’s practice:

  • A large portion of running back reps were given to Deuce Vaughn on Wednesday as the hero from the preseason debut saw more designed runs and passes go his way to finish off the last padded practice in Oxnard. Vaughn's evolving implementation into the offense both with the first and second-teams should increase the confidence of the rookie out of Kansas State for his future role in Dallas. (Nick Harris)

It seems like he practiced a lot with the first and second teams, so it appears like the team plans on his playing early and often. That is good, IMO, because I want to see how he performs with more decent players around him. I guess that depth chart didn’t mean a whole lot.

Anyway, it is going to be very interesting. I’m so glad football is back.

If he is going to get 1st or 2nd team reps in the game then he will have to block at some point.
What they will do with him a lot is leak him out the moment someone blitzes or comes off his side and he will have big gains. This will slow them down more than his blocking will.

Let’s see what he does at Seattle against at least their second team before we make him the best back on the team.
See..........this is the EXACT type of pointless hate type exaggeration that will get you hating Deuce for whatever dumb reason. The kid has talent. If you cant see that or it bothers you that others can then just keep your mouth shut.

NOBODY said anything about him being the best back on the team.

"as the hero from the preseason debut "

Seriously? This is the kind of lazy reporting that both sets up Vaughn for a dropoff and belittles the word hero.

I hope Deuce, Ferguson and Schoonmaker are good players. I am just sick of fans picking favorites and anointing them players before the show something. I don’t hate anyone.

Not worth creating yet another Deuce thread so I'll throw it here: Deuce has a rather rare ability to change directions at speed. I'll bring up a name from the past in this regard, Tony Dorsett. People always commented that it was extremely rare for Tony to take a direct hit because he would always just shift away from it. Not only does this make Deuce a better runner but it mitigates his weight concerns.

I'm not going to proclaim greatness after one preseason game but I'm certainly not going to dismiss him either. Right now, I'm just going to be a fan and root for him while enjoying the ride.
I've seen him compared to Barry Sanders and now Tony D.

I'm going to complete the trifecta and mention how he seems to look for the cutback opportunity once he gets past the los. Reminded me of another great Cowboys RB in that regard.
