you guys need some games that count, BAD!
That was one incident off the field a lot of players have been involved in fights including Roger Staubach and Clint Longley but Irvin wasn't involved in 2 fistfights in a matter of a few days on the practice field. Irvin didn't have anger issues Dez does.
Time for an in-thread pop quiz!Hard to find a player in the league who hasn't had some incident with another player on the field. I don't remember how that got started but the entire team was in the middle of it.
Major ownage right there.*getting old at this point. = It is getting old to you that Dez is so emotional and confrontational. That is your opinion and you're telling everyone on Cowboyszone about it.
*We all love his fired up attitude = you speaking for every member of Cowboyszone. Truly though, most here probably do love his attitude.
*but he needs to be more of a leader on this team. = you saying that you think he needs to be more of a leader and currently isn't doing a good job of that.
*How about showing restraint instead of getting in a punching match every week? = you saying that you don't like his unbridled enthusiasm and his eagerness to fight. This you did phrase as a question, but you aren't really expecting Dez to answer, I think. You're simply spouting your opinion.
*What are you teaching the younger guys come game day? = you saying that you think Dez is a bad influence on the rest of the team. Again, you don't expect Dez to answer... you're stating you don't like it.
*His lack of control of his emotions may cost us on game day. = you giving your opinion that although Dez has never been penalized for his emotion, you think he might end up doing that.
*He is sending the wrong message in my opinion. = you again saying you don't approve of Dez's emotions and passion for the game.
Really, that is ok though. This is a place for opinions, your's included. But don't act coy like you are "just asking a question". What you're doing is putting out several sentences voicing a strong opinion that a vast majority of Cowboyszone will likely disagree with. Anyone would realize that the responses will be numerous and contrary to your thoughts on the subject.
All that is why in my first post in this thread I'm saying that you're either looking for an argument at best, or simply trolling, at worst. As I said in that post, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that it is just you looking for an argument. That you're just wanting a lot of responses. If you just wanted to read other people's opinion on the matter, there were plenty of posts on the subject in the fan zone without you having to start another thread on it.
No, IMO I think you want the discord. You want the responses and the attention that a subject like this will bring. You want the chances to argue about it.
Oh yeah... I'm sure everyone can tell that I'm argumentative and you're not.
If they look even deeper, I'm sure they'll see that I never admit it when I'm wrong and that you are quick to have your mind changed on a subject.
As far as following you around, I've probably quoted you and responded to something you wrote less than 10 times. Total. Ever. So, considering how often I post here I definitely don't think anyone would categorize that as "all I seem to do is follow you around".
Apparently, it must feel like I'm harassing you because the few times I do actually interact with you, I call you out on your unrealistic and hysterical Garrett posts. It sure isn't to debate with you because there is absolutely no way anyone is going to change your mind on the subject. That thought process is fixed.
If you follow logic you will realize that: 1) I'm not following you around, and 2) I do interact with plenty of other members of this board besides just you... most of the time, not to argue.
Frankly, I didn't even know you existed until you started acting foolish in the Sturm Garret thread, so I couldn't have been responding to you very often.

Time for an in-thread pop quiz!
Given the opportunity, which of the following posts would KJJ make before this thread is locked?
A) "Irvin was so serene and composed that he could've been mistaken for Mother Teresa."
Or
B) "You know Irvin may have had anger issues but..."
Answer: neither. KJJ rarely (if ever) counters his previous comments on a topic, not even to the smallest degree, no matter how obvious evidence contradicts his running commentary.
I really don't have a problem with KJJ saying Dez needs to better control himself - he's 100% right in that regard and I think we can all agree that while we love his passion he's gotta learn to pick his fights.
That being said, to use Michael Irvin as an example is a poor choice. If Irv played today, forget about it. There's so many things he surely did that we have no clue about, but stabbing a teammate in the neck with a pair of scissors because he wouldn't back down out of the barber's chair... dude, I don't care what Dez has done to this point in his career, nothing he's done or even been accused of even comes CLOSE to touching that.
I should also add that I absolutely love The Playmaker. Just throwing that in there.
Everything with that situation is speculation because none of us were there and there's no video surveillance. He either felt threatened and was defending himself or was pissed off from the punch and came at McIver. We don't know exactly what happened! I'm not comparing Irvin's situation with Dez's it was Primetime 42 who brought up the McIver/Irvin fight trying to make the comparison. Dez's situation and the circumstances involving it were totally different than Irvin's which makes it a waste of time discussing it. You're wanting to get into what's not legally relevant with another situation and it's a waste of time. I'm not bagging on Dez but the facts are he's in denial about his anger using the excuse it's all passion. He's passionate but some of these outbursts are anger not passion. I appreciate the teams history as much as anyone here and don't ever say I'm a fan of the wrong team.
Dez made himself look like a bit of a fool by calling David Moore a "sucky writer". Kind of stuff you'd expect from a 10 year old.

Meh. It's no better than Cole Beasley tweeting to someone to "eat a **** ".

You're the one who brought up Irvin in this discussion using him as an example not me. Others followed with one poster accusing me of bringing him in to this discussion. Not true! Once Irvin was mentioned I made a comment that he never underwent anger management as far as we know of and one poster twisted that and claimed I said Irvin didn't have a temper. LOL I'm sure there's a lot of things he did that we don't know about but his issues that made headlines had to do with drugs and infidelity not anger. Irvin stabbed McIver in the neck with a pair of scissors after McIver punched him in the mouth during a fight that Irvin started. Irvin's ego started that fight. Dez having an incident with his mom back in 2012 where he was accused of ripping her shirt, smacking her with a baseball cap and threatening her could have ended in a tragic situation all due to his temper. She claimed she was trying to stop him from fighting her brother and wanting him to leave the house. The incident resulted in a warrant for Dez's arrest and he turned himself in. Some here on the board tried to excuse what Dez did because his mom was a drug addict and prostitute making it appear she deserved it.
That's the kind of logic provided from FANS. Prior to that incident Dez was detained by police for an alleged altercation at a Miami nightclub. There was a situation at a mall due to Dez wearing his pants too low which led to him getting banned from the mall for abusive language. His temper got the better of him again. It's been reported that the police have been called to Dez's residence a number of times and all of this is why it took so long for the Cowboys to come to terms on a new contract with him. It's been feared that once he got paid things could all blow up with him and we have to hope these fist fights he's been in aren't the start. Can anyone recall Dez "throwing punches" at anyone in practice prior to this year? I don't know if he's still angry about his catch in Green Bay being reversed but he needs to calm down and handle situations better.
I compared Dez with Irvin because the passion they bring to the field and this team are the same. You are out of touch with reality because the facts show that he has never done anything that has been detrimental to the team. Until that happens this discussion is moot. Over 90 guys were involved in that brawl the other day and you choose Dez to make an issue out of? Again, you are out of touch. The motto of this team for two seasons has been to fight and to have each others back and Dez does this more than anyone. So, again I will say that if you dont like it be a fan of another team.
I wasn't around for the bulk of the thread, so I'll take your word for most of this.
However, the first sentence is a boldfaced lie, so I wonder about the rest.
Carry on.
omg. He used the FANS word.
