Exactly. It makes no difference anyway. It's not like he tried less hard to complete the pass to Hurd because he thought he had another down.

And the vid has been taken down, apparently, but if Archer says the players in the huddle thought Tony knew what down it was, doesn't that settle it? I don't see why Archer would still be confused about it.

You do see how our turd of a local media crew makes things harder on this team, though. Gotta love how they look for ways to tear down the players.

And before someone says "It's not their job to help the team!!!"... No, it isn't. But it's not their job to do the opposite, either.

Its not a matter of effort. Its a matter of not knowing what was going on.

If you think you have an extra down, going to Sam Hurd 2 times in a row isn't nearly as dumb as going to Sam Hurd 2 times in a row without an extra down.

So yes, it does matter. It matters because if he knew it was 4th down he probably wouldn't have gone to Hurd again. At least I hope not.

I was hoping the Tony that fumbled the FG snap in the playoffs was a fluke, but looks like that's the real Tony while the one who led us to a 12-1 record in '07 was the fake.

Some guys have it. They are natural born winners. They make plays in critical situations, and late in games and down the stretch of the season and in the playoffs. Tony, he's just the opposite.

Fox4 video of Tony Romo

Todd Archer/Reporter Bio | E-mail | News tips

Fox4 photo journalist Larry Rodriguez http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/sports/nfl/cowboys/Was_Tony_Romo_Lost_During_Las has video of Tony Romo apparently confused as to whether the Cowboys had another play to run Sunday after his throw to Sam Hurd fell incomplete.

Romo flashes three fingers to the officials, but could he be jokingly asking for another play in attempt to confuse them? Did he really believe he had another play?

If he really thought he had another down, I'd think he would be much more demonstrative to the officials that he had one play left. According to the highlights from the TV copy both down markers had a "4" before the snap.

On Monday, Wade Phillips said he was unaware of any mix up but he had not seen the video.

Here's the give and take from the press conference walk off:

Q. Did Romo think he had another down after the last play?
A. No ... No ... You only have four.

Q. He was trying to get his linemen down and he did this {holding three fingers].
A. You'd have to ask him that. We had four downs. We spiked it once.

that makes sense, but when you figure in what archer said this morning that the players in the huddle he talked to said they ALL knew it was the final play.....its really baffling.

Either way, now the national romo sucks bandwagon and the local owens support group and of course the media all have exactly what they want.

and now romo's life will be even more miserable because of this. And the local media here in Dallas couldnt be happier to tell you about it and show you the video.

he led the team on two straight drives in the 4th qtr of the playoff game. We went right up the field two times in the loudest building in the league against the defending nfc champs.

The first drive witten fumbled at the one trying to get in and score. If he hadnt no doubt we score a Td there.

Then after that we get the ball back and romo takes them right back to the 3 yard line only to have that play happen on special teams.

So your assumption is completely off base. Unless it wasnt romo playing qb when we went right up the field twice in the critical moments of the game?

What would anyone expect his teammates to say?

There's what his teammates say and then there's pictures of him looking like a doofus holding up 3 fingers.

He was lost out there.

Honestly, I could care less what the media is saying. Its not like they didn't bow at his feet after only a few games and its not like he doesn't have a fat stack of cash that he is no longer playing up to.

He needs to pull his head out, plain and simple. He's been playing scared and now he's playing stupid. Not a good combo.

those questions were asked without the knowledge of the video, only max morgan knew about the video because larry rodriguez is his cameraman, they were the only ones who saw it happen on the field.

Archer said crayton and hurd looked at him like, yes of course we all knew it was the end of the game.

Who needs video? They were on the field watching him try to gather the team for another down that didn't exist.

I don't know how anyone can't say he didn't know. Maybe it just slipped him after the play but when he is holding up three fingers, he doesn't have a clue.

And yet he managed one of the biggest gaffes in team history with the game on the line. And that seems to be more of the norm than the exception the last year and a half.

After looking at this video a few times here's my opinion:

1) Romo unsnaps his chin strap and begins walking off the field. To me, this clearly demonstrates he knew it was 4th down.

2) he looks at the scoreboard then begins motioning to the offense to huddle. Quite possibly the scoreboard may have had the incorrect down on it.

3) Romo then holds up 3 fingers towards the officials. I'm thinking he's trying to confuse them to try and get an extra down. IMO, if he really thought it was 3rd down, he would have ran over and pleaded his case. He simply walked off the field and cursed.

4) I don't live in the DFW area, but is this station a joke? Cause to me there really is nothing here except some local affiliate trying to make something out of nothing. After looking at it I don't think there's anyway he thought he had another play, but was attempting to dupe the officials.

No one knew about this until yesterday when max morgan told clarence hill and hill blogged about it.

From everything I have heard and read no one saw it or knew about it but max and larry.

I didn't quite get that out right but my point was all the players in the huddle are on the field watching it and taking part in it. They don't have to know about there being footage. They saw first hand and probably talked about it.

So someone comes and asks them, of course they would say he knew.

that makes sense.

I just took it from archer that they were suprised anyone would even ask that because nothing they knew of pointed to anything like that.

Actually Nick Eatman at dallascowboys, com seems to have had the story posted on the official Cowboys website prior to Hill's blog if the timestamps are accurate. If this gets ugly will Eatman keep his job writing for the official site ?

Did Romo Know It Was Fourth Down?

Romo didn't know it was fourth down? Maybe that's why threw it to Hurd again.

I originally assumed he was just trying to make it appear they would get a penalty from champ bailey. But the video posted makes it look otherwise
