The draft is like a box of chocolates. - Forrest Gump.
Cap is only a word. You can manipulate player salaries and clear cap space. What is the difference getting Wilson or giving Dak 40+? Signing Wilson will be a hell of a better deal for Dallas.
Well, Steve Young and Jim McMahon did OK.
I've seen this kid play, I really, really like him.
dak is a pretty good qb and he will get what he wants in free agency i am now thinking that maybe jerry and stephen are not really all in on him as their franchise qb
the cowboys are all ready the biggest laughing stock in the nfl
My gosh this is frustrating.
I understand trying to squeeze as much money out as you possible can, but at what expense? Do you want to win with a good team around you or make the most amount of money you can and be mediocre?
Just sign a long term deal where the team will have cap flexibility. Jerry will still take care of you - always has with players he pays. You'll be making more money in 1 year than majority of people do in a life time. (heck, you already are in endorsements since your the QB of the Cowboys)
thanx for letting us know of your conversation
Todd France may have been the issue initially but 2 years later I cannot believe that Dak is not smart enough to understand what is going on. If he wanted to sign for what was offered he could have
At this point this is on Dak and Jerry not France
Agree. You might be able to play naive early on but he knows exactly what is happening and that another tag means big FA a year from now. He’s trying to break the bank either way.
How would you feel if the Cowboys brought Kirk Cousins here and payed him 37 mil a year? Because that's what the Cowboys would be getting and that's if Dak has a good year.
I'd have no issue with it. I'd rather have Kirk Cousins then Vinny Testerverde, Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner, Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter, etc.
You're trying to look own on Kirk Cousins but you rooted for Romo for 12 years........Kirk Cousins in his career will have accomplished the same things as Romo has.
Yea Young came out of BYU 40 years ago.
I must be forgetting all the post a year ago about this kid from BYU. This is what happens when people become desperate reaching for a player due to his position.
We see a few of these guys every year. 2nd, and 3rd round level players who suddenly get over drafted due to playing QB.
Well, I like the kid. I've seen him play and he's pretty damn good. But I've been wrong before.
He had a good year. Last year he wasn’t even the clear starter.
There’s not enough success to call him a sure thing.
If we were considering him in the second round, sure, whatever.
Even if we considered him at 10 and we didn’t have Dak in house I’d be pretty happy with taking a shot.
But people are talking about trading #10 and at least next years first and that’s assuming we have a top ten pick next year
Not sure why people think trading multiple firsts for a guy who had one good year is a pretty big gamble
But it's not that simple. Wilson will cost more than cap space.
Has there actually been confirmation from the Cowboys or Daks agent that he is indeed only seeking a 3 year deal? I need to know how pissed off I'm supposed to be.
I don't understand this whole cap stuff but Wilson's cap hit for the Seahawks in 2021 is 32M how is this worse than Dak signing for 40M+? What am I missing in all of this?
Dak is fighting fir his next deal before he even signs THIS one. Eerily similar to other guys who were all about the money... Tank comes to mind.
$35 million x 4 years would have gotten it done last year. Less would have gotten it done the year before.
The talent cost of trading for him, probably. It's not like the Cowboys would just be flipping Dak for Wilson. They'd have to give up Dak and a couple of firsts, at least.
