Notice the very first line about the Colts "kept saying" the perfect season did not matter to them. It should be a clue to you that they were already talking about that prior to the game for this reporter to know this.
So by your thinking, none of the pregame shows mentioned the starters not playing the full game? Hilarious.
Here is an article dated December 3rd saying the Colts were going to sit starters as soon as they clinched home field. Uh, that is a full 3 weeks and 3 days before they actually did it.
Then there is
this article that has the colts owner 12 days before the Colts lost saying they were probably going to rest and make a playoff run. he doesn't sound too convinced they were going to go for it. Note the very last paragraph where the author senses what will happen. Lo and behold that is what happened.
Here is one from 3 days before the loss where Manning and the rest would not lobby to go for perfection.
