If you are arguing that Derrick Mason is good enough to win in the NFL you are proving that the WR position is overrated. That is for certain.

Now that you mention it, running back is probably the 2nd most overrated position in the NFL, right behind WR. I think RB is more important than WR, which is why I would put RB behind WR in terms of overrated.

not at all, Mason is good enough to win because he's good, it's when you think you can do the same with Brandon Lloyd...

lmao at guys laughing Derrick Mason out of here. For an 'average' receiver on a 'defensive' team he has had 7 1,000 yard seasons. 7 times as many as our current # 1.

You guys are kidding yourselvs if you honestly think Derrick Mason is considered a legitimate #1 WR in the NFL. The FACT of the matter is he is not. The REALITY is that the Ravens have proven they can win with him as their best WR which proves my point that the WR position is overrated. If I gave someone a list of WRs to pick from, I would be willing to bet, without taking age into consideration, that Mason would NOT even crack the top 20.

He's got a ring, and has played in several playoff games.

He also roasted our *** with a bum shoulder.

Was that the same Derrick Mason that was beating us in the final game at Texas Stadium with one arm?

Why yes, I believe it was.

Weird. We serendipitously posted that almost to the second.

Marshall is talented but is he worth the aggravation?

I say no....

He is better than Owens. Had we not given up an arm, leg, and a kidney for Roy Williams I guarantee we would be interested.

you can say the same for every position, you don't need good DBs if your front 7 is great, you don't need a good front 7 if your DBs are great you don't need... ect.. a good o line don't mean much if your QB and HB is crap, a good QB don't mean much if your O line sucks, Truth is dude you need a good team, if you start ignoring positions cause you don't need them to win you're going to suck.

If your QB can't throw a good out route teams are going to make him throw outs, if you don't have good WRs teams are going to make you pass. If by week 10 our starting WRs are Stanback and Hurd i can promise you'll see that having good WRs is more then a luxury

Give me Brady, Belichick and their defense, I'll take those WRs.

Well, since we have Romo, Wade Phillips, our defense and these WRs, I am not satisfied.

Dallas has talent on the roster, what if it turns out one of the unknowns is a Patrick Jeffers and Dallas ignores that and goes after another Joey Galloway?

Had Dallas not let Jeffers slip away, a man who's short career dwarfed Galloway's Cowboy exploits in a single season in Carolina, they would've had a quality wideout for cheap and kept two first round draft picks.

History is repetitive and hopefully Mr. Jones has this in mind.

It is evident there is at least enough hope at Valley Ranch that Austin, Wilson, Johnson and Hurd have shown promise to not panic and go after more character question marks.

Now you are starting to understand the debate, the difference between DBs and Wrs and Rbs is people understand the concept of having a good front 7 neutralizing lack of talent at DB, thus do NOT overrate the position. For some reason, people have a hard time making those same rational judgements for WRs and RBs. Once again, making them overrated. Do you get it? Its not that they are not important, it is just that they are overrated. It is probably because they are flashy poisitions.

Out of all the head up their rear end idiot WRs out there, if this guy was acquired I wouldn't hate it.

Yeah I wouldn't be upset about it either. I'd be all for bringing in someone that can stretch the field like he can IF the rest of the team were cool with it.

I agree, i just don't agree with using the term overrated as it suggest the position is only an after thought. You need good receivers who can beat single coverage and actually catch passes when teams are dead set on stopping the run, making the position just as important as any other, thus not overrated.

that being a given, we do not need a stud, just a couple guys that know the game and can play well. Ones that can get open and make little mistakes.

And whoever said that RB's are overrated are crazy as well.

One thing I will say is a pass happy NFL is a boring NFL. the ground game with some good defense is the most exciting football to watch, and that is where dynasties start. An all pass happy offense will only get you so far, ask the Rams. but if you got a well balanced team that can run the ball and stuff opponents offenses, then you got a team that has lasting power. See Aikman dynasty

Had they gotten a better WR they would've been potential Super Bowl champions.

Got proof?

A receiver would definetely make them better obviously but they won with good defense and good QB play.

You don't have to have Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin to win in this league.

Just good players at that position and most importantly a good Quarterback.

The NFL is all about the Quarterback. Not the receiver.

Put down the pipe.

He might eventually be better than Owens but he isn't better than Owens yet.

Garrett did an awful job of getting any receiver involved in our offense last year. I refuse to believe every receiver on our roster just fell off that "bad".

With the coverages Owens faces and the way we used him I can't say whether or not he is fading.

When you guard a team like teams guarded us you should be able to expose a defense. Much like the Cards did with Fitz. They killed teams in the flats.
