Looks like a soft Taco with no flavor

I specified on run plays. None of our DE's or anyone on the dlne was good last night. D. Moore was supposedly first rd talent, been in the league for 4 years and couldn't get a sack against guys "hoping to make the Cardinals roster".
Tapper was excellent. Fourth-round pick.

I was very fearful of Watt. The kid screams LBer to me. I just saw him lose at POA too often for my liking.

He is almost identical to Gregory insofar as his measurables and people seem to think Gregory is a real deal DE.

Here's Taco's best play of the game. Seriously.

My opinion is that that was not a " I didn't win the speed rush off the edge so I am going for the spin, it was, "I am going to get chipped so I am going back inside"

And the entire camp. He hasn't smelled a QB yet.
He has the size and length to maintain the edge. Dallas desperately needed something/anything to help there.

So maybe all they got was depth but after 15 snaps and two weeks of practice, there isn't anyone that really knows.

Too bad he isn't setting it a blaze, if he was it would mean potential and nothing more.

Which begs the question, why draft a 5th-round talent in the first round then?

Well that play was about the only play of the game that he didn't end up on his back or shoved completely out of a play.

Wrong again. He won a few against Tyrone and Clearly, which was reported in he Media. Also, you are basing your opinion off of the limited info released by the media and 15 snaps of pre-season
The practices are public.

Gregory didn't have the injury history Watt did. Teams get scared of trying to add weight to guys with a long history of leg injuries.

There are busts. The Cowboys made huge strides in recent years by avoiding busts.

Frederick, Martin, Tyron, Zeke, Jones....those were instant starters who showed ability immediately as 1st-round picks.

Charlton looks like a 3-year project at best.

That's funny. They were ready to run Smith out of town his first preseason because Ware abused him so bad. Depends on who you talk to about Byron. Some think he is nothing special. Frederick was overdrafted according to everyone...except for those looking back now.

Your own posting shows both sides of how drafting isn't a science. Martin, Zeke and Tyron were all consensus top 10 picks. Jones, Frederick and Charlton were not.

Haha.. he sure was.. He was knocking the QB all over the place (don't remember one hit).....Keep in mind, Tapper was going against guys who aren't even hopefuls to make the Cardinals roster. Those were camp fodder guys.. Charlton was at least going against the 2nd team.

I think Tapper has potential, but to say he was "excellent" is ridiculous.

I don't think he was nearly as bad as you suggest. ON the first series he was consistently the first Cowboy off the snap. He was doubled on one pass rush and showed a good spin move. Never saw him get "manhandled" as you claim. Definitely a lot to work on but he still has a lot of time.
Well said indeed sir !!

You should demonstrate an ounce of athletic ability if you're a first-round pick. Something, at least.

He showed none. Go back and watch it.

Sadly, I'm with you. I hope to all that is holy that I'm wrong, but I think he'll be our worst first round pick since Mo. This is what happens when you reach for a position of need.

Guys bust every round of every draft. The Cowboys have avoided that recently, which is why they are where they are right now. That's the point.

Taco looks like he needs years of seasoning. At best. I'm not for projects in the first round.
