Mistake re-signing Tyrone Crawford?

Yes. Big mistake. All he ever wanted was to get paid. He was and all the sudden he is a no-show. No impact on the field anymore. I'd cut him. He is not the RKG.
I never heard him mention money once......I saw him work his tail off to come back from injuries and then switch positions several times to help the team.......all the while drawing nothing but praise from his coaches, teammates and opponents

But otherwise you got nothing right

I don't think he ever mention money either. I don't think he's that type of guy. For all accounts he's a RKG, I just think he's an above average player getting paid like a playmaker or catalytic player

Look. He was a guy who was all over the QB before he got his contract. I remember being very excited that Dallas tied him up, especially with him being a lower round pick. I thought he was going to be a mainstay on the Dline that they would build around. But after he got his contract, he no longer has had an impact. He has completely disappeared.

It's quite a coincidence.

Dallas really needed someone to pressure Rodgers. If there was any time for Crawford to lay it on the line, get back to being disruptive, it was against Green Bay. Did he even play?

I'm sure he is nice and a hard worker and rehabs like crazy, but hell, I can do that for 10 million dollars. Break my shoulder and give me 10 mil. I'll rehab hard as hell. I'll also have no impact on the field like he does.

If im wrong, great, he'll start blowing up the oline again next year. But I really don't see that happening.

If I based my number on how many times his name gets mentioned in a game, he'd be a 2.
If that's how you measure success - on how many times a broadcaster mentions his name - then you don't understand D-line play. If he were a 10-sack guy he'd also be a $15 million/year guy. He might be a smidge overpaid, but he would get a contract with a $7-$8 million/year avg on the open market right now if he were cut.

I hope the coaching staff lets him get back down to 270 and back to DE where he belongs. Irving + Crawford could make a really good LDE combo if they are both in shape and healthy come next season. And with Collins getting healthy and continuing to improve at 3 tech the D line really isn't as far off as most people think. We really just need the ever elusive pure pass rushing RDE to have a truly great line. Just a shame Lawrence can't get healthy and be affective

Exactly right.

Paid to be this defense's Warren Sapp, but currently a rotational guy.

No he wouldn't. But keep making the claims.

Yes but he is terribly miscast as a 4-3 DE.

As a SDE he is underrated player. SDE don't get sacks like 3T and weakside rushers; generic stats are a poor evaluation tool for DE IMO. His pressure rate is quite good.

The issue I see with him are recurring shoulder injuries.

What would it cost to do a post June 1st cut?

He's ok. Just overpaid.

except he isn't getting paid like that .......he is getting around 1/2 the money of the top guys

Sure thing.

People can see for themselves. A solid rotational player is being grossly overpaid. A guy without a true starting role is making that kind of money. Meanwhile, we 'can't afford to keep Ron Leary'. But yeah, 'we can do anything we want' with the salary cap.

Stash who do you think on the market in a few months is going to make that much?

My point is not Tyrone Crawford. Everyone can see that Dallas is overpaying him now. And they can also check his history of injury. If he's cut, he'll end up signing a deal for half of what he's making, or a one year, 'prove it' deal.

And just because some teams will have money doesn't m an that they'll simply waste it by overpaying for Crawford.

He's a good player getting paid great money.

We tried to sign a value deal and it didn't pan out. Risky, since he only flashed one year at the 3 tech after being bounced around from scheme change.
As someone who liked Murray, sucked to see them pay Crawford for potential, but not Murray for results. Water under the bridge now.

I think Crawford and Collins can make a nice starting DT duo. Collins has the size of a 1-tech. He's actually the biggest guy on our D-line. They both provide more pass rush than any other DTs we have, besides Irving, but I'd see if Irving can win the starting SDE job. Then we need to spend some money on a good veteran WDE. I'd still draft DE and DT early but I wouldn't want to have to rely on a rookie. D-line would look like:
WDE - free agent, Mayowa, rookie
3DT - Crawford, rookie
1DT - Collins, Thornton
SDE - Irving, Lawrence, Tapper
Crawford has had injury issues and may need surgery now. When healthy he is a good player
