If we cut T.O. we're screwed!

Did anybody remember when Owens got hurt during the 13-3 season?

Do you remember how that offense looked in thier final 3-4 games? Didn't look good. IMO, I think Garrett's play-calling was starting to be exposed during that time.

Garrett had a chance to prove he can win without Owens during the 13-3 season (even during the playoff game vs. the Giants). HE FAILED!

For the Garrett lovers out there who want to make this guy a HC? Your playing yourselves. Garrett couldn't make R. Williams a good #2 WR.

Garrett please take the Raiders job, cause nobody else wants it.

Look, there's plenty of blame to go around on offense. Garrett's play-calling, Tony Romo's inability to find the open man (unless it's Witten). Hell, even Madden said T.O. was OPEN at the end of the Pittsburg game.

"If we win next year...Okay. If we lose? Okay" I wonder who said that?
Tony, I don't even know you anymore.

The WR coach: if everybody says that your WR's are running bad routes  , Isn't it up to him to correct that? I think so.

T.O. needs to find positve ways to get his points across. He still one of the players on offense that shows HEART on the field.

And what's up with all these "sources". These "cowards" are apart of the problem. Keep it in-house and shut your mouths.

IF.....if T.O. hurt the feelings of Garrett and Romo to the point were they can't perform well. Then we need some stronger minded people to take over their positions.

Thank you Dallas Cowboys for forcing me to see the Eagles.....The friggin Eagles get a chance to go to the S.B. Go Cards!

Does anyone else find it funny that Ed Werder NEVER gets an actual PERSON to give him a quote?

This article contains literally nothing but anonymous sources.

And Tyke1Doe, don't you think if people wanted to get the word out about Owens that they'd ATTACH THEIR NAME TO IT? If you feel that strongly about it, you'd stand behind it.

The problem is, Werder isn't talking to players, coaches, or anyone important. He's talking to other reporters (I'm guessing Lombardi is actually one of his "sources"), citing himself as a source, and probably talking to the water boys.

Not defending Werder, but he isn't the only media member reporting this.

Yeah, he gets these rumors from other media members. These things don't originate from big shots; front office personnel have better things to do than leak off-season plans to the media.

...Roy38, Folk, Flozell, Ellis, Hurd, Stanback, ... any others?

(yes folk..unless he can learn to kickoff into the endzone, i see nothing wrong w/ looking for another kicker): Lead the league in out of bounds kickoffs, 42nd in KO avg (60.5yds...do the math). His inability to put it into the endzone + poor kick coverage = bad bad bad. Dallas can do better.

Then who do you think these sources are?

If it were a player, Werder would say it's a player. If it were a coach, he'd say it's a coach. If it were a member of the front office, he'd say that. Even a scout would probably have his job title revealed. Werder would love to add some credibility to the piece if at all possible, but he simply refers to everyone as a "source."

This means he doesn't want people to know what this person's job title really is for fear of it detracting from the credibility.

It isn't about Werder or who his sources are this time. You can fixate on that all you want. I'll pass on answering the question of who I think his sources are. That simply doesn't matter.

Nothing is set in stone. He may be here. He may be gone. The point is, there is discussion about it because...they are weighing how much of a distraction he was in 2008.

Wonder where you've heard that before?

Two years post-Parcells with absolutely nothing accomplished. I can't even imagine how good this team would be right now if Romo was allowed to actually develop with Parcells' staff in place and without having to force-feed the ball to Owens just to keep him happy. Now we're gonna cut our ties with TO after losing a good coach and a couple good seasons of our Super Bowl window? Great. I'm glad that Jerry's learning so rapidly. 13 years since we've done something useful.

Best GM ever.

Roy (replace him with who?)

Folk (he is money on his kicks, and replace him with who?)

Flozell (replace him with who?)

Ellis (replace him with who?, Spencer hasn't shown jack yet)

Hurd and Stanback (I've never seen so much worry about bottom of the depth chart recievers as I see from you guys, I don't get it. They don't play and they won't until they can prove otherwise, keep them in camp and see what happens.)

WOW!!!

Title of their link to the article is Cowboys may release Owens then the source says I am sure we will discuss him but haven't yet... just wow man.

How can they actually publish this rubbish.

Just stick to the real deal. Source says Cowboys will consider T.O. release for better chemistry.

Whether one likes the move or not and honestly I am not entirely for or against it... the wording is flatly wrong and ESPN needs to stop this crap.

Or you could try a much simpler solution that keeps a pro bowl caliber kicker aboard by simply bringing in a kick off specialist as many teams have done.

If you can get a top kicker for field goals like Folk and then get a top 5 kickoff guy it is worth it to use the roster spot.

Roy- replace him with a young kid coming out of the draft. Roy is finished as a football player.

Folk- don't replace him but either teach him how to kick off or get a ko specialist

Ellis - your guess is as good as mine though I want Spencer starting next season

Hurd and Stanback - keep hurd, stanback can't stay healthy with barely getting on the field so cut him.

It's interesting that if Werder has the reputation some people ascribe to him here, why he keeps getting Cowboys insiders to talk to him anonymously?

The fact is some of the players or/and some on the coaching staff want to send a message that they do not like T.O. and his antics. Now, maybe this is a way to get the word out ... "T.O. we are watching you, and we want you to know we don't like your influence" even if T.O. stays - which I believe he will. Or maybe it's a message to Jerry Jones.

But I don't doubt for one minute there are players in the locker room and coaches who feel the team needs to cut ties with T.O. But as long as T.O. is Jerry Jones "love child," aint no way somebody's going to speak out against T.O.
First off ESPN has ZERO credibility because they can't even title the stories honestly. Why would any sensible person believe this anonymous source when the meat of the story doesn't ever reach the point of the headline????

Secondly whomever this is is just guessing and speculating. I am "sure" we will eventually discuss T.O.??? Wow, that is a big story there. ROFL!!!

When they cut him it is a big story.
When someone will go on record saying they are exploring that it is a big story.

When a source says they might discuss him this off-season it is hilarious.

A part of me wonders if the yapping isn't intentionally done just to float it out there and gauge what the public consensus will be on the public stage and to test the waters to factor into an impeding decision. I really do believe Jerry stubbornly (and unbelievably) thought TO was a liked and marketable player among the Cowboy Nation, and it might have been an eye opening moment when he was overwhelmingly booed out of the stadium before the Giants game .

The bottomline is that Jerry is suffering a bit of a PR crisis. I've never seen such a negative and toxic attitude towards the Cowboys in the Dallas area by the fans than it is today. It's not just disappointment, it's outright hostility. Couple that with the worst economic times since the Great Depression, and I don't believe for a second that filling that new stadium up is going as planned. Jerry is going to have a hard time selling the same unlikable bill of goods for another offseason at triple the prices. Releasing TO would be overwhelmingly positive PR step in the right direction and a way to get the average fan back on board. Jerry, feeding off the universal and overwhelming acclaim from cutting PacMan, might just be opening his eyes to this.

Perhaps the booing of TO struck a chord with Jerry.

Are you kidding? They're saying they might release him due to "chemistry" issues. Chemistry doesn't matter, right 5countem5?

So Werder says breathlessly "Dallas may release Owens accourding to sources"?

The his "source" says they havent even discussed Owens?

Yup that there is good stuff

Yea, there are a lot of "possibly, may, could, think" in that article. It's like Werder hasn't had a story in "The Lead" portion of the bottom line on ESPN for a week or so, so it is time to hit up those "sources" and "quote" them.

I am sorry guys, but I need a little bit more than "annonymous sources state TO has not been discussed yet, but will be discussed at a future time real hard and the possibility exist they may decide to release him at some point in the future depending on make up of coaching staff"

Wow........great insight

We are having a team review and TO may of may not be released...........same story with about 30 other guys.
