Video: Watkins says Romo laughing at T.O. in meetings - 1/20/09

Did Owens ever have problems with Steve Young? We know about problems with Garcia, McNabb, Bledsoe and apparently now Romo.

Of that group, (IMO), only Young is the only one that really showed 100% effort and fire and commanded respect (sorta like Warner's "stare")

God, this is exactly what I didnt want to read today. Also along with Mosley's chat wrap and column. As if I couldn't dislike Romo and TO even more...somehow, now I do. I agree with the guy earlier that wishes we had never signed Romo. This guy may be a good QB (sans December and playoffs), but the more I read about his attitude and his nonchalantness and now the stuff about him acting like he's an untouchable superstar and that he's somehow above his teammates makes me actively despise this little puke. I can't wait until the day he no longer wears the Star. God willing, it'll be sooner rather than later.

And Owens, god. If the cap difference between keeping and releasing him is indeed only 700k or so, *******it DO IT Jerry. If we can't get both these cancers off our team, at least get one of them the hell away from Dallas. If your QB and your star WR are both little ****s, its at least easier to live with your QB being a ****.

I no longer wish for this. Today's info has put me over the top. I want him gone. I don't care how it happens. The sooner we are done with Romo the better off the franchise will be in the long run.

Bring in a Shanahan or maybe a Gruden and I bet you can save Romo. He needs a coach he respects and who will ride him. Not going to find a QB to replace him quickly anyway, especially with Jerry doing the picking. (What's Hutch up to these days?)

Might even be able to minimize TOs impact.

I also heard that Tank Johnson got a kick out of farting in meetings and blaming it on a teammate.

I think that Mexico trip, which many including myself defended as no big deal, was just the first sign of things to come.

I don't ever remember hearing about a QB of all people skipping town on a vacation during the playoffs, and their coach getting in front of a mike and defending it. That had to be the moment right there where Romo probably realized he had carte blanche here.

We'll see what tomorrow's round of anonymous squeelers brings to shed more light on the subject. :bang2:

That still gets me.

Going to Cabo a week before a playoff game.

You would have never seen the great ones do that...not one.

Aikman do that?

Please.

I know some say that's no big deal...but somethings wrong there.

It's funny how in training camp all the news about Tony was how he had watched hours upon hours of tape on Tom Brady, trying to emulate the things he does well. And Patrick Crayton is complaining that Romo is even bringing footballs with him to the offseason pickup basketball games to run routes.

But I guess just in the last 6 months he figured out he was rich and famous and didn't have to work hard. Even though he had signed his contract a year ago, it hadn't dawned on him yet.

And the kid who competes as a hobby against the best golf pros in the world just suddenly forgot his competitive drive.

Yeah. That must be what happened.

He did not have the command or star power when Young was the QB there. He just started getting into that part of his career where he was a playmaker. Plus you had Jerry Rice there at that time.

Stupid of Watkins to just report TO's side of the story. I wonder if he bothered to look into the instances where TO said things like this that weren't true?

I can say that Tony Casillas was reporting last week on that lousy Gamenight show on 103.3 (just happend to catch part of it) that people on the team have told him that TO will jump up and almost take over meetings, presumably WR meetings.

Casillas is yet another one who says TO is more of a distraction than we even hear about, and that he sets a very poor example for the younger players on the team.

But yes, let's bash Romo because Romo dared to laugh at him during a meeting.

yeah, we're better with Owens

not

If TO did in fact show Romo that he was open and then Romo blew him off and laughed... well then...

If I were TO... I would want out too....

I like Romo but he cant utilize all the talent that TO STILL HAS....

No Troy would just go to NY to the Letterman show. Romo went to Mexico when Dallas did not even have a clue as to who we were going to play and they went for the long weekend he was not there all week long. To me if the players are giving some time off which many teams do in those circumstances what they do or where they go for those few days really is not a big deal in my opinion as long as they are not getting into trouble.

Witten was with him, I guess he has no work ethics either.

Well something is up.

I don't doubt Tony still works hard, but the bottom line is he regressed this year, no question.

Yes injuries affected him.

Yes the play calling was bad, particularly when he already had the stuffing knocked out of him and we continued to call 7 step drops.

And a lot of his turnovers were the fumbles, which of course were a by product of being chased around on every single play, and naturally a broken finger doesn't help.

But he pulled some boners this year that Parcells would have benched him on the spot for. And his body language and demeanor, as you mentioned, just seemed completely different from last year. Don't know if its from TO's whining or what, but you could just see him deflate after an INT, when his key leadership quality was how upbeat he was - like mocking refs in the middle of tight games. This year's Tony would have hung himself at halftime of last years Buffalo game.

Maybe you're right, he's just sick of all the drama swirling around the locker and the obvious weight put on his shoulders. It is ironic that most of this "Tony is slacking" stuff from 'anonymous sources' is coming at a time when a lot of heat is being directed at Owens.

But he needs that kick in the rear, no doubt in my mind.

:lmao2:What the hell are you talking about??!??!!!

Everybody in the Local and National media and most fans are blaming T.O. for all the problems on the team.

It's actually refreshing to hear somebody defend T.O. instead of blaming all the the teams problems on him.

I agree. Coach Cupcake isn't going to do it.

You're free to disagree.

To me that's not something that he should have done.

So going some where else other than Cabo would have been better on his few days off?

Yes.

He should have went to Cozumel...much better.

Went there on my honeymoon.

Wonderful place.

I'm not saying Romo doesn't need to snap out of it and be kicked firmly in the rear, but don't you think TO screaming in his ear about how open he is is pretty much a never ending nightmare he has to endure 24/7/365? So this one time TO was right in the film room and makes a point to call out Romo in front of the entire team in the film sessions to prove some point (making Romo look bad in front of his teammates, the same teammates who are probably leaking that they're upset about everything that Romo supposedly gets away with), and Romo's just laughing to himself thinking "I could name 300 times you've said you were open when you weren't, but I'm sure you'll never bring that up in front of the team." The same exact way McNabb was just laughing at Owens when Owens was trailing him and berating him on the sidelines in Philly.

Obviously, Romo's body language suggests someone who is just beaten down and defeated by the whole situation, just like McNabb and Garcia were beaten down by it, to the point where he's pretty much just sick and apathetic to it all. Which is quite remarkable considering this is a guy who cut his teeth in the league with mean ole grouchy Parcells chewing his butt 24/7 to purposely groom him for the emotional grind it takes to be a QB in the NFL, coaching tactics that broke weaker QBs like Hutchinson and Henson, and yet Romo never lost his smile or charisma and would even give the jabs back to Parcells while he was being tested. But he's been emotionally and spiritually defeated under the supposedly more "player friendly" coaching environment. It's a testament to how toxic, depressing and defeating the environment in the lockerroom has to be right now. The former gym rat who had to be kicked out of the facilities and would read biographies on football history in his free time doesn't even want to show up for work.

That says it best.

:laugh2: Maybe the media would not have followed him there? Let me ask you was it an issue because he went to Cabo say instead of Burlington Wis. or is it the fact the media reported it?
