Woodson on Dak’s Cowboys Contract: 'Pay the Man'

No, you're talking stupid, he is what he is, no amount of money changes that, h's going to learn at the rate as most qbs drafted in his range.

You may feel free to disagree with Dizzle, heck I do once in a while.

But he does not talk stupid. Even when you disagree with him--his takes are clear and concise in thought.
As is the case here. You are arguing emotionally. He's arguing logically. Once you get paid, it truly doesn't mean crap what round you were drafted in or when.

That excuse/rationale/etc is gone. Once you get paid, you're expected to be the man. I would think that would be commonly accepted by anyone on any side of this debate.

I didn't say his learning rate would change. Not once. Are you being willfully obtuse?

Show of hands, anyone else out there having trouble understanding that once Dak gets a contract that pays him like a top QB then the expectation will become that he plays like one, regardless of where he was drafted? Anyone else struggling with that?

WHO SAYS HE'S GOING TO BE PAID LIKE A TOP QB? WHAT PART ARE YOU NOT GETTING

Wow, Romo owe Woodson money? How many comebacks has each QB led in his career?

I would be willing to bet there are some players on the Romo teams that would take exception with Woodson's characterization of their sideline.

So, you're in a shootout, which QB do you want?
The one with a better defense, so it isn't left up to a shootout.

What does it sound like? The lowest starting qb salary is the extradinary, unless it's a rookie contract. Again, you're paying that to any qb. He's a starter, he should be paid like one.
Your definition of extraordinary is very different from mine. Or Jerry's.

Getting $20M a year or $30M are both starters money. He would be paid like a starter either way.

It's just that is would be extremely overpaid at $30M given his low ceiling, whereas $20M a year is much closer to his abilities.

Lol...so you think the ranked passing attack is the only measure for a qb? Does the qb leads a team that wins? Does the qb lead and command respect from his players?

I'll bet you that the Jacksonville Jaguars asked this same question before signing Bortles to a deal this past offseason that pays him almost $20 million per.

I hope ours doesn't work out that "well"......

Thank you sir. I disagree, I do talk stupid once in a while, but I will also admit to it when I have clearly done so!

Romo friendly meant "stop giving him turnstiles for OL".

Dak friendly means "give him the best RB and defense possible", then praise him for his "it" factor.
Romo friendly meant 2 playoff wins in his entire career.

In 2014 he had the best OL and RB performance in football.
He had All Pro seasons at WR and TE.

If Dak friendly wins more games I am all for it.

Paying T.O, then Dez, Witten, the OL and Romo?? Wonder why the defense sucked???????

Again, you're still working with a developing qb, who came out needing work and wasn't suppose to start for a year or two. Not only does motions confuse the defense, it can confuse a young qb and young WRs,and TEs.
I guarantee as Dak grows you'll see a lot more motions and pre snap window dressing.

So the offense he ran in college will confuse him?

I'm not saying he is a polished QB. But, in my opinion, the scheme and play calling of the OC and HC needs a lot more development than the QB.

How is it extraordinary if it's the going rate for a starter of his equal or market rate, extrodinary is being paid well above market rebate. When you go to the dealership you want a pinto, if it's 20,000 you're paying Market rate, you're not paying the Benz rate.

Nope. Not satire I guess.

If you cannot look around the league with the state of overinflated QB contracts, and see that Dak's agent will walk in that room and negotiate a deal that makes him one of the top 10 paid QB's in the league, I don't know how to help you understand it. I'm sorry I let you down.

Wow dude, they run a lot of what he did in college, problem is, most of it won't or don't work in the pros.

Anyone satisfied with the offensive Coordinator?

Seriously.

And also--gotta love Darren stating the mindset of a locker room he never stepped foot in.

We're supposed to believe that the guy who leads all time in franchise victories and 4th quarter comebacks and owns pretty much every passing record in franchise history (except interceptions) inspired *zero* confidence in the team.

But the closer is the best--Dak will be a Championship quarterback because he "has the intangibles". Yeah, he's not accurate. Yeah, he doesn't see the field well. But--the "intangibles". Those simply can't be measured, or overvalued.

I look at a list of guys who've won championships at the quarterback position in the last 15 years.
Both Mannings. Brady. Brees. Rodgers. Roethlisberger. Wilson. Flacco.

Hmmm..... I'm not thinking that's a list of guys who would be described as having a "lot of warts" that needed covering.

You do know what has to happen in the first 3 quarters for a 4th quarter comeback to be possible, don't you?

Over inflated or not, it's the going rate, if you want a starter , then you have to pay for a starter, what's hard to understand?

Anyone satisfied with the offensive Coordinator?

Same offensive coordinator who presided over 2 of the 4 most prolific offensive scoring seasons in Cowboys history (2014 and 2016).

Amazing how inept he became, around the same exact time other defenses figured out our quarterback can't throw downfield with accuracy.

Let's try this:

$20M a year would NOT be an extraordinary rate for Dak given his abilities.

$30M a year would definitely be an extraordinary rate for Dak given his abilities.
