HE HAS A HUGE EGO, sorry for caps
He loves attention, and it has all gone to his head. I dont think he knows what the word humble means.
LOL. He has the right to have that EGO.

If he wasnt humble. He wouldnt be going and picking the OL's brain, learning about the game, and bettering himself. Hes quite literally a top 3 defensive player in the NFL.

You dont like him because you got so used to the Garrett years where everyone was the RKG. Parsons makes EVERYONE on this team better and we are lucky to have him.

You are already taking a massive cap hit on him next year anyway and have dummy years beyond the end of his contract. So you are going to be eating cap hits for Martin regardless of what you do. So you could give him more cash, extend his deal and still have fairly manageable cap hits.

It's what I find funny about all of this - claims of you don't need an OG eating up that much cap space because it's not that important a position, somehow forgetting Martin already will eat up a huge chunk of cap space in the future. You could lower his cap hit next year, blend those dummy year cap hits and make Martin content. And yet................... here comes Jerry.
as long as its reasonable. I am not advocating record breaking contract.

not sure I agree with extend and show him the $$$$$..... is he great? yes, but can we go out and get two top 15 guards for the price of one great guard? probably. you don't go to the superbowl because you have the best guard in the league.
I'd like to know what two top-15 guards are available right now and will come here. Since I'm a kind and caring person that doesn't want to see you waste time, I'll give you the answer: you won't find them this year. No, you aren't going to the Super Bowl because you have the best guard in the league. But like I said, we ain't going without him. You want to put a JAG in his place? Because if you don't sign him, that's what will happen. Kiss your SB dreams goodbye.

so if we are never going to go to superbowl with Martin, then we should just pay him 50M a year. he is key to everything

who are the guards on KC team that won the superbowl last year?

Why doesn’t Jerry just sign him to 1 year contracts with each one making him the highest paid lineman in the league……the salary cap isnt real.

Give the man his money!
Dont worry about another man’s money
He needs to gets paid

Your first mistake is believing Jerry, who clearly BSing to cover his butt here. Jerry started all this by saying they were dug in on Martin because he had other players to pay. Now suddenly I guess we have the money but now he wants years added to the deal.

Unless one thinks Martin is an idiot, I doubt Martin thinks he can just get a huge lump sum payment next year on his existing deal and then get a new deal the following year. I am pretty sure Martin and his agent know that if they want to get a new deal, it's going to be an extension.

Don't fall for Jerry's BS.
The more years you add, the more you can spread the singing bonus over and keep the cap hit low.

There is not a player agent that will not try to get Martin who is hands down the Best RG in the league as much as he possibly can while adding as few years as possible to his deal.

The only thing that's BS is your failing attempt to justify your wrong assumptions

The Chiefs probably have the best Guard combo in pro football, Trey Smith and Joe Thuney.

oh we need Martin.... but id stilllet him sit. As the team holding his deal with 2 years left ... I have ALL THE LEVERAGE. Im looking long term as a team/owner... not short term. I need to do this today to keep from having it happen in the future. Nobody forced martin to sign his contract that he currently has.
And you think McCarthy and Jethro are thinking long term. If this new offense and season is a dud then everything could change. MM could be gone.

You might be looking or thinking long term, they aren’t.

so you think th eteam is going to double whammy themselves??? not a chance. The teams wanted this language in these deals for a reason. To simply help the player not have to pay the fine would be incredibly stupid on their part.... and they are not stupid.
50,000 a day for what 30-40 days is about 1.5-2 million. That’s chump change for this type of talent . His new deal will more than compensate. They’ll prob throw in or figure in a bonus to make up for it.

If we are serious about this season they’ll get it done. But they can roll the dice. See how our OL by Committee goes with new offense . But a slow start offensively will just raise the price. Lol

If we truly have a hardon for Zack for holding out then we should figure out a way to bolster his remaining contract cause we desperately need him if we want to make a run but then I’d draft his replacement next year and began getting ready to move on.

Ofcourse they CAN. So CAN wrs. Oftentimes, they dont. Martin is going into his 10th year and hes still under contract. While 10 years for players of his caliber isnt exactly rare, 12+ is and if you did some easy goole searching, you would know that.
Calm yourself. Martin isn’t some fringe pro bowl guard who had a couple good seasons. He’s been dominant since day 1 and has shown no sign on slowing down nor any injury history like Tyron. If there was a player to roll the dice on going into their 10th season, it’s a HOF talent like Martin. And you acting like asking for him to be extended 5 years. Give the man an extension that’s easily voidable by 2026. By the way all the best Olinemen are as old or older than Martin. Kelce 35 turning 36 soon, Lane 33 going into his 10th season (got his own short extension keeping him under contract till 2026), Trent Williams 35.

When you have Mahomes and Reid you get a little more leeway. I would think that you would know that.
